Just completed project, model 1908 8x56 ms. Picked this up about 2 months ago, it had a shortened stock so I had to add some length to it with a spacer and a new recoil pad. Total take-down cleaning and reassembly. Refinished the stock and fitted a Leupold vari x II 3x9 on exsisting claw mount rings and bases. Now just need some brass.

Are you totally empty for that ammo? I don't have vast amounts, but I could supply you some from Buffalo Arms until you get your own put together.
I have an original 8x56, and like it quite a bit. Haven't figured how to get a new sight- anything I've found costs more than the rifle...!

Glad to see it restored.

While you can buy 8x56 brass, the easiest way I have found is to use W-W 8x57 sized to 8x56 & trimmed. Have had no problems using these. Rem brass is a little too large on the base but the winchester has been just right.

very nice, i picked up a Greek Millitary Mannlicher Schoenauer in 6.5x54MS which im told came off the same "assembly line" as the sporters.....since i cant afford a 6.5 sporter im going to make my own, planning on making my interpretation of an early Jeffery Sporter i found pictures of on an online auction....found a rifle that someone had already started cutting up so im not destroying an uncommon milsurp....

Those old M-S are very nice and the smoothest action I've ever used!!

Neat old pic. I'm guessing the negative got reversed somewhere along the line though.

Very nice! The picture is excellent, and I see he too hunts with the double triggers.

There have been a couple threads here in the past few days that have some real nice older rifles in them. So can someone enlighten me on pricing of this style of rifle? I found this one: 7mm Is this what one would expect to pay? I don't have the slightest clue. Dale
