Yesterday a friend sold me a Ruger Super Blackhawk 7 1/2" for a token price, "cause he wanted me to have it". It is stamped on the barrel top "MADE IN THE 200TH YEAR OF AMERICAN LIBERTY". He purchased it new and said it is unfired (to his knowledge anyway),and I agree. Is this the correct stamping for this model? My security Six which I bought new is stamped the same, but is on the left side of the frame in two lines. Naturally, the 44 has been "handled", VERY light marks on the cyl. I have no plans to sell it, but would like to know if it is a proper bicentennial model and what it would be worth today. Does anyone know if Ruger has a serial number listing site?
Thanks, David

Yup, you can go to ruger.com and get a listing.

It lists a production date of 1976.

All Rugers, pistols and rifles, made in 1976, were stamped the same way. They bring a slight premium among collectors. I have three #1's from that year.
