Nice! Looks like a 1B from here.
There is no accounting for taste.
Experience is a great thing as long as one survives it.
Generally, there ain't a lot that separates the two however, Barely making it is a whole lot more satisfying than barely not making it.

Nice! Looks like a 1B from here. That's because it is a 1B.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum. I do tend to fit in well wherever I go in person. The campfire is the most outside exposure I get. No TV, no newspaper.

Tell me what model I have here. Picked this one up at the gunshow yesterday. I have been looking for one in 25-06 for sometime now, and this one was priced right. Couldnt let it go. Nice butt.

Aside - my first No. 1 was a 1B 25-06 purchased when I lived out in TX. It still has a place in my safe. It's a great rifle and shooter. I purchased it used from McBrides in Austin. Has the best trigger of all my No.1's. Good luck!

I think the standard length 1B as Ruger lists it is 26"

Why a 25" barrel?? Seems odd, but then again I know very little about no 1's. Thanks fellas It's a 26" barrel and I would surmise it has to do with the rifle's overall length. A 26-inch barreled No. 1 has the same overall length as a 22-inch Model 77. You're also getting better powder combustion in a longer barrel with a cartridge like the .25-06 than you will with a shorter barrel.

I agree that one would have been hard to pass up.
The No.1B I believe was always made with a 26" medium weight sporter type barrel. If you measure from muzzle to breech, the extremes, you will get a nominal 26".
The threaded shank that threads into the 1" x 16tpi action proper is on the order of 0.850" to 0.875" depending on the gapspace between the end of the barrel to the breechblock face. So if one measures from the action face to the muzzle, probably is on the order of 25"+, then add on the hidden threaded shank length.....comes out pretty close to 26".

I can see where this will go. I bought a Model 99 a couple years ago, and they multiplied. I find this rifle to be another one that will do the same. The 25-06 a common chambering in these??

Mudslicks: Great catch there at the gunshow - good for you. The buttstock of that Rifle is especially attractive. Over the last 30 years I have disciplined myself to ONLY purchase Ruger #1-B's with especially attractive wood - the reason being is that if said Ruger #1-B does not shoot up to my expectations then I simply resell it. And Ruger #1-B's with attractive wood sell quite readily and hold their value well. I hope your new 25/06 shoots as good as it looks. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Well she shoots. Had a another good 4 shot group, but sighted two other rifles and ruined a good pic. Might put this one back up, and add two or three more shots. This was only at 100 yds. though. Would have loved to shoot this one in the years before glasses. I've always heard, "to shoot good, one has to see good". This rifle will outshoot me.
