Hi I was wondering if any of you guys have purchased one or thought about getting one. They are ugly compared to the original but they seem like they would make a good beater for a truck or survival gun. Kind of like the henry survival rifle. My gunshop has one for 350 and I am almost tempted.

Most temptation can be overcome with concentration on a diversion. Getcha one! (a diversion)

Hideous example of it's fine predecessor, if you were lucky enough to own or use one of the older 24's, this is just a modern attempt at producing it on the cheap.

Irv: Is it the Model 42 you're referring to? 2 friends & I went to Cabela's Mar.7 & one got a model 42, .22/4l0 $349. Took way over 1 1/2 hrs to get paper work done. Double wrapped & scotch taped every seam & opening on that box. . . Gun show last Sat. A 24V, .222/20 $450. 24C, .22M/20 $460. 24? .22/20 $350. I wasn't interested in them & told the other guy about it. Don't think he is going to buy.
. At the show, NOT ONE BOX of .410 shells. A dealer had 6, 3 inch slugs $3.00. That was it. A lot of 12 & 20 ga. a few 16's.

I think it is the model 42 I was thinking of. The more I think of it for a backpack gun I may go with the m6 scout instead of the 42. Its funny 99L we have truckloads of 410 ammo here trying to find anything else is difficult. What's your take on your purchase?
Trophy I am lucky enough to own a 24 va I believe it is. I also had the Stevens 22/410 that I sold to my brother in law on the condition that he would sell it back to me if he got rid of it. Never happened.

. Irv: I didn't purchase any gun. A hunting friend bought the 42/.22/410. He said he hasn't fired it yet. His B'day is in April. Might find him 4's/6's/7 1/2's in .410 by then. .
