Any interesting alliance of Scalia, Thomas, Sotomayor, Kagen, and Ginsburg opined that police cannot use a K9 search outside your residence to obtain a warrant to search the inside of your residence. The courts most conservative justices teamed up with the most liberal justices for a majority over the more moderate justices.

The courts most conservative justices teamed up with the most liberal justices for a majority of the more moderate justices. Or is it the other way around?

So after this ruling:
hypothetical: your average police dept doubtfully pays attention to SCOTUS rulings and continues to do this, your average judge in the same municipality doubtfully pays little or no attention to SCOTUS rulings- some schmuck gets the run-thru by the cops and sparky the k9 wonder, judge signs a warrant, judge resides over the same trial, said schmuck has a lawyer or public defender who also doubtfully pays little attention to SCOTUS rulings...
dude goes to jail, prison, etc....Does this happen everyday?

I predicted long ago the liberal left and the true right would find common ground(s).
They're being forced to.
More of these grounds in common exist than people realize, too.
It might look strange to a lot of people at first because they don't know the definition of conservative - being themselves liberals in drag - but they'll catch on eventually or get trampled under. Whether they accept it or not matters not, it's coming and it'll grow fast. Their stripe of liberalism is on the chopping block and nothing they do will save it.

dude goes to jail, prison, etc....Does this happen everyday? No. Your average agency will in fact comply with this ruling. They may bitch about it, but they'll comply. And actually, the reverse is often true. Bad guys in prisons pay close attention to SCOTUS rulings that resemble their case. Then they file appeals based on this new ruling and may very well have their conviction thrown out.

Without reading it, Does this apply to vehicle searches as well?
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

Don't quite understand this. If your house is polluting marijuana fumes and a dog detects that then a search should be allowed with a warrant.

This is a ruling far more in line with the liberal 4 than the conservative 4. Scalia and Thomas siding with the liberal court is the news headline for a ruling such as this.
