The High Chair Deer Stand

A stand you can sit in all day.

You can build this stand over the weekend for about $90. It breaks down into four components that are easy to carry and assemble in the field by one person. (ladder, rear support frame, seat module, and floor-board). It can be moved to new locations by simply lowering it to the ground and breaking it down into its components for relocation - a fifteen minute process. The components can be transported in a short bed pick-up truck.

BOW HUNTERS - The shooting rail folds up and out of the way, down behind the seat.

CUSTOMIZE IT - Add any personal touches you want - seat cushions - camouflage netting draped from the shooting rail - an umbrella holder mounted on the seat back for those occasional showers - cup hooks on the top rails for hanging calls, binoculars, etc.

You will love this stand! (And you wont need a safety harness to take a nap in this one.)

My twenty-page build guide contains a materials list, tools list, and step-by-step build instructions with 44 pictures. The build is simple with just a few common hand tools.

Order your copy by e-mail to [email protected]. The guide is $21.50. Provide your mailing address in your e-mail and I will get it on the way to you.

The stand is 12' high at the arm rests. The seat is about 8" below the top of the arm rests. I have three of these with camo netting draped over the shooting rest and have had deer so close I could spit on them.

Don't know what happened to the pictures. They were there yesterday. But I think I have it fixed. If they don't show up for you send mea message and I'll get them to you.

I don't see any adjustability, I assume this would have to sit on level ground?

It costs about $90 to build GonHuntin.

You're right tpcollins. It can't be set up on a steep slope. To set it up on unlevel ground I just kick dirt away under one or two legs to get it level.

Good looking stand. And it looks like it wouldn't be too hard to add some levelers for uneven ground ... one of the nice things about working with wood.

Here's one of mine that's set up in an area with trees too small for a climber. (I hate climbers anyway.) I upholstered the seat and seat back on this one with foam padding and waterproof vinyl fabric.

Totally quiet Jimmy. No creaks or squeak's. You can enter it without a sound, and carry your gun in one hand as you climb into it. It's like climbing a big firmly sitting step ladder.

On one of mine I have an umbrella holder screwed to the back of the seat rest for those occasional showers. It's nothing more than a 12" section of inch-and-a-quarter PVC pipe that the umbrella sits it. I also have an old lockable metal box screwed down to the floor under the seat. It contains an extra flashlight, some flagging tape, a few bottles of water, a pencil for my deer tag, and one or two paperback books. grin I have cup hooks on the arm rest for hanging calls and my binoculars. I spend a LOT of time in these stands. I have access to box stands, but much perfer to sit in one of these.

Talk is cheap - except when Congress does it.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to

Good looking stand, FYI if it helps anyone. I use old boat seats and bases in my stands. They allow me to swivel my seat 360 deg quietly if I need to.

A personal check or money order will do it for me volsgo. Send me a mailing address and I'll get a copy of the plans on the way and let you know they're in the mail. You can hold payment until you recieve them if you want. I find sportsmen are mostly honest guys.
