While looking around at the Kalispell gun show, I happened across this book in excellent condition. It is a signed copy in mint condition with the original jacket, autographed by Elmer, himself. I paid $35.00, is that a good deal???

My last copy got destroyed when a water pipe burst in the place that I was living years ago.

It's worth $35 just to get to read about him shootin' that hobo's front teeth out with a slingshot.

That's a joke, right? Signed in that condition those can go for a couple hundred.

Holy Crap, I just wanted to get a copy to go along with the 1903-A3 that I got a couple years ago that was inspected by Elmer when he was an inspector at the Ogden Armory...

Shrapnel;
Not that JB needs me agreeing with him, but anyway - I do.

I was shocked at how much even an older, well read copy like mine is going for these days and I've got nobodies signature in it.

All the best to you and yours this Easter Kirk.

Hobo?

Didn't Elmer call him a "darky"?

it must be a fake. Everybody knows ol' Elmer couldn't spell "Elmer Keith."

I once heard there was an ad in the back of the American Rifleman for a typewriter for sale by Elmer Keith that was mint other than the letter "I" which was worn out...

Spelling it, he was actually quite good.

Typing was altogether a different matter....

I have some of his early "Letters". He spelled and wrote quite nicely.

Yep it sure was, I was in a gun store once about 15 years ago, and there was a book for sale, Crusade in Europe by Dwight David Eisenhower. I looked at the book, it was a first addition, signed by the General himself long before he was elected President. To this day I am sorry that I didn't buy it on the spot, I should have, when I decided to buy it it was sold.

Kirk, I believe you did quite well on that. Very interesting and in many ways a hard life. I remember him being severely burned at one time.

For some reasons, my daughters got a kick out of that title, and at times when on the recieving end of fatherly advise, would giggle and then use that title against me. You can imagine...

Shrapnel,

Nice find! My favorite book of all time. Never really looked, but I doubt mine is signed. One of these days I'm going to head up to Salmon to see what's still there.
