Might want to read about Virginia Tech, and that was shooting at adults.

That is not even a close call.

in the above case, given the right thing to carry the ammo, im with you.....no one shooting back especially makes a solo guy with a shotgun extremely deadly....

all evidence-or lack thereof aside, I maintain that arguing "was the AR/wasn't the AR the primary weapon" is a self defeating argument in that we are giving legitimacy to the fact that it matters at all what the firearm this insane azzhole used to commit this heinous crime.
IMO regardless of what an individual believes the 'real story' of the firearm used is, this just needs to be let go..
We say and KNOW it's not the gun, its the person;
Well going on, and on about it wasn't THIS gun, it was THAT gun IMPLIES that it makes a difference if it was. It doesn't, end of story!

Nothing is implied unless you are inferring. wink

We were only discussing facts of the incident.

The nutbar killed those children, not the guns.

No - skewing the facts by accident or design is what the media does best. Apparently fair and accurate reporting is a very difficult thing to achieve.

The NRA certificate was, I read somewhere, from an NRA conducted gun-safety course he took.

Apparently it took, as he didn't shoot anyone, even himself, by accident.

None are "lethal" unless used in that manner.

Lauren,
Curious as to what your take is on NY states new gun laws?
I fully expected to see a join date of March 2013 below your name but it appears you've been around for awhile.

gun law is nyc telling the rest of us how to be. I've been doing this since the 70's. Black guns weren't around back then. We have always had hand gun registration in ny, nothing but a pain in the ass and overall deterrent to wanting to mess with them.

Do you mean that AR type rifles were not popular/available to civilians in the 70s? I have no idea when then they started being made available for civilians but Vietnam sure saw its share of the M-16.

I remember the first time I heard somebody say they bought a Bushmaster. I wasn't sure if they bought a new lawn mower or a lesbian porno:)

Yes, but the rifle wouldn't have had a flash suppressor or bayonet lug. 30rd mags were readily available throughout the ban.

The asshat didn't seem to be deterred by the law that made schools a gun free zone, laws prohibiting murder, theft, etc. What makes you think the AWB would have mattered to him?
