Wow, that's right up there on the unique scale!
It would be interesting to learn more about who the special person was who had this one built originally...is the original owner still alive and in possession of this?

Looks like hand selected wood also?

I fully expect there will be a half dozen or more of these rifles turn up in the future. Very nice of JTC to do the extra work and identify another one of these scarce guns. Here is a link to a previous thread about these rifles http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads.../1/Main/525436/Thanks to Calhoun.

The 928xxx gun must be D&T'd (and sling studs!). How about the 500,001?
Half-mil serial# must have been a milestone to celebrate, just like the millionth, and they made a (couple?) unique gun(s) to honor it.
whoever got the 928xxx must have been someone with inside connections.
cmhjohn, I couldn't get your link to work, I'm very curious!

Ser 500,001 is indeed D&T and has studs. FWIW it also has a small circular metal inlay in the bottom of the buttstock about 2" from the toe similar to what would have been used to inscribe a persons name or initials. My understanding is that the small number of these guns most likely ended up with Savage salesmen or their favored accounts or possibly other Savage employees.
