So with the powder situation I am thinking that learning what powders I don't use can be substituted for ones I do use might be a good idea. Now I know these two powders have different burn rates and are not a grain for grain substitution. However what I am interested in is have most folks found that they can switch from one to another and work up a load that is at least close to the load they had.

I know some ppl swear by one or the other for certain loads. and I know every rifle is different. Right now I use IMR4350 and am thinking of picking up a jar of H4350 plus I like the fact it is less temp sensitive that IMR even though I have never had that be a problem.

Main calibers will be .243 and 30-06 but who knows what else I might decide to try it in.

Good luck finding any H-4350 right now.

Try some H414 instead. It may be easier to find right now and it has a similar burn rate. I find it to be a grain or two faster, depending on the cartridge.

It is no more temperature sensitive than the IMR powders, but some shooters feel it burns dirty.

I have been using H414 in some things and I have been finding H4350 on spotty occasions.

I run imr4350 in my .243 & .260 rifles....fantastic accuracy. Plenty of imr4350 on shelf around here.

Found H4350 today but no IMR4350. I grabbed a pound of it and Hybrid 100V as I use it for a few things and figured I better get extra. Now if I could just find some CFE223.

I personally have gotten better results with H4350 than with H414, in .243 and 7x57. easier for me to work up an accurate load with the 4350 in both calibers. I really think H4350 is one of the best powders out there, I wouldn't want to be without it. The only thing it hasn't worked in for me is the .270 with 130's in my Sendero ... which is very strange, because it's a very decent powder for that caliber.

The .243 is one of the calibers I plan to try it in.

I've tried them both in 30-06, and I have not noticed a smidgeon of difference. I think I used 0.5 grains more of the Hodgdon than the Dupont, but the velocity and accuracy were identical.

H414 is also VERY useful in a lot of cartridges. I use it in 6.5 Swede, 303 Brit, 30-06, 405 Winchester. With a 168 TSX in the 30-06, I am getting 2900 ft/sec with it and no pressure indications whatsoever. A 140 gr in the 6.5 Swede is also a death ray with the H 414.

Also, don't write off IMR4831 - also pretty versatile.

Are you using regular or magnum primers with the H414? I hear conflicting stories.

Dupont has had nothing to do with IMR for quite some time.

H414 and Win760 (same) have never worked better with a Magnum primer in ANY rifle I have tried them in.

I've used both magnum and regualr primers with the H414, and I get good results either way. Doesn't seem to matter whether the load is developed with one or the other, just keep it the same.

Dupont tells you how long I have been using IMR4350. Have been getting the cans refilled for years. laugh

yea I usually use the H version but kind wonder just how much difference the "extream" makes in temp. sensetivity over the IMR version

I just picked up a 8lb jug of H4350 so I should be set for a couple weeks any way.
I have had excellant results in 30.06 and .243 using H4350. I dont have a clue what the speed is but I accuracy is great
