Any places do custom foam cutting?? Mine looks like it was hit with a roto-tiller, LOL!!

If memory serves me (happens less and less all the time), Pelican sells it for around $30. Try a place that makes mattresses. I got some 1" thick memory foam there the other day. I just got a small piece and it was free, but you should be able to buy what you need, and maybe they would cut it to size.

I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

What do you need the foam for? I bought mine without it. Just plop the rifle in the drag bag in there, with room for accessories, ammo, etc. Open up a Pelican on a windy, dusty day at the range and you've got a mess.

They are expensive as hell!! You get what you pay for. I would never fly a rifle without my 1750 Pelican. Get foam on line (just google for it), or go to your local hobby shop (Hobby Lobby is one chain) and buy foam. Simple. Cut as needed. If you do a lot of it build an electric cutter with nicad wire.

I bought foam at a local fabric shop. It was all that pale yellow color, but it came in different densities. Cheap, too.

I agree about Pelican cases - best there is in my opinion!! I was talking about the replacement foam - they want around $75 just for 3 pieces of foam.

A foam mattress topper works well in a pinch. Cut to fit. Relatively cheap at Walmart.

Hobby Lobby is your friend......when i went to AK, I purchased some thinner foam and just used clothes to protect my rifle, rod, and handgun. Worked very well. My Pelican was the only piece of checked baggage I had, everything else went into my daypack...

I just used google last year to find replacement foam for my 1750. I think I paid around $50.00 shipped for three pieces so that I can swap them out for different guns when I travel.

Mattress shop or hobby shop or Wal-Mart.

the same electric knife you use to carve a turkey will do an equally good job cutting foam for gun cases.

Upholstery supply shops sell lots of different kinds of foam and probably cheaper than at a big box craft store. I've been in shops that would cut it too.
An electric fillet knife, as mentioned, works great for cutting foam. If it's a straight cut, compress it, and use a super sharp thin regular fillet knife, with one pass for a clean edge.

Here's a question - does it matter if you use closed cell foam like Pelican does or is open cell foam just as good? Open cell is usually cheaper.

Look in the yellow pages for a foam store. I expect they can cut it to fit to.
