I cannot find IMR4064 anywhere close by which I use all the time. I have found some Accurate 4064. My question being, how similar are they? Can I use the same amount in grains of Accurate as I was using with IMR? BTW, I never load to the max shown in the books. Thanks!

a friend bought 8 lbs of it, instead of IMRs when he wanted me to do a batch of loading for him...

actually, I am glad he did.. it is pretty close to IMRs or pretty close to IMR 4895, which is more like it the way the grains of powder are..

if you are not running max, then for the real world they are interchangeable...

for smaller cases like the 223, 22.250, the 20 cals and 17 cals, ACcurates is actually easier to get down those small necks than IMRs...

and I am a Major IMR 4064 fan..

10-4...thanks. I know it is a shorter cut than IMR's and should meter better. I've used 4064 (IMR) in 32 Special, 300 Savage, 30-06, 30-40 Krag and .243 Winchester. All with acceptable results. I'm not so picky as to use a different propellant for each caliber! H110 for the carbine, 3031 and 4064 pretty much cover my loading! No 3031 available out here in eastern Oregon either. Did find some LR primers the other day at $40.00 a brick.

I haven't used any in a good while, but tried it in an '06-based-.35 wildcat and probably other cartridges. In the .35, MV was about 100 fps slower than the IMR powder using same charge weights and a 250 gr. bullet. My notes indicate this was a maximum charge using the AA version. For what it's worth, that powder was from a batch produced at least fifteen years ago.

I'm shooting AA4064 in a mild load in the 7-08/140 and getting
cloverleafs at 100. This is from a #3 Lilja It's really easy metering powder and I like a bunch based on this one instance

I used both versions in 35 Whelens, mostly under 250 grain Hornady's, with good success as accuracy and field performance never failed. More or less, I didn't see a significant difference between AA or IMR.
A couple of years ago I switched over to Varget & Partitions as my "go to" in the Whelens. No truly rational reason for this change, but no downside either.
Would also mention that 4064 produces surprising good performance in 270 Winchesters. It was used quite a bit 40 years ago under 130's, and I still like it under 90gr Sierra's.
