I have a pair of the 8x30 SLC's that I bought new in 98. Do you guys know if Swarovski will install updated lenses in older glasses?

Yep, you'll want to contact them to find out for sure, but last I knew it was $50.00 per lens for 30/32/40mm, and $75.00 per for 56mm.

One more question. Is the newer glass noticeably better?

The new glass is a nice update, you will easily see the
difference, I have an 8x30 SLC, and recently made this change.
If they do the full upgrade, they replace the prism coatings to
the Swarobright, and the latest lens coatings are super.

Swaro. is tops with offering this upgrade.

Any guess on a complete fluff & buff on a 1990 or so vintage set of 8x30's would be?

And FWIW they don't "replace the prism coatings", they generally replace the prisms if they're Pre-Swarobrite.

A friend of mine sent his 8x30's because they had crystals growing in then. Swarovski sent him a new pair and apoligized because they didn't make the grey color anymore. They were 26 years old. Hell of a warranty.

Sounds like Swaro has excellent customer service, something we all should consider when buying high grade optics............Hb

I sent my 8x30 SLC in last fall to have a busted diopter adjusting wheel replaced. They came back noticeably better than they ever were. I had to check the serial number to be sure they were the same glass. EVERYTHING, in and out appears new. Mine too are 25-26 years old. I am sold on Leupold and Swarovski. Jack

Might have to do this with my trusty 8x30's.

I only own two Swaro products (also have a 3-10x42 AV) but both have exceeded expectations- and expectations were high. That riflescope tracks amazingly and the 8x30's have been a constant companion for over a decade. Pulling the focus closer/farther is like having X-ray vision in the thick stuff deer hunting.
