Jack, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2011 and is currently on a break from his chemotherapy treatment, came into the game for a fourth-and-1 on the 31 yard line. With the help of some blockers, Jack ran the ball all the way into the end zone in front of more than 60,000 fans.
Jack met Nebraska running back Rex Burkhead last year and the two became friends. Rex was named captain of "Team Jack," a support group made up of Jack's friends and family, and when Jack scored his touchdown, he was wearing a miniature Rex jersey. I can't stand the Cornhuskers.....
But folks like Christian Peter and Lawrence Phillips could really learn something from that video.
As could most of us...
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link; the kid certainly showed its also not the link that "appears" so....

That is the kind of thing that athletes of every level should aspire to.
I have never had the opportunity to met Rex Burkhead, but I played with his father Rick at Eastern Kentucky University, many moons ago. Knowing the kind of person his dad is, I am not surprised to see Rex involved in this kind of thing.

I can't stand the Cornhuskers..... Know what you mean . . . I can't stand the Haweyes . . . So what has that got to do with anything but personal preference? Rex has been a standup player since he showed up on campus. Nebraska (as well as Iowa and many, if not most, D-I programs) has had their share of turds, but most of the players are good people. They just fly under the radar most of the time. Thanks for posting this Rory.

I saw that while on the treadmill this morning at the gym. I was jammin' out so I didnt have my ear buds plugged in to hear the story but I figured there was something special about it.
Good on them, stuff like that warms the heart.
I think I need to dust my house... the 'follow me' line got me. Being a long time lineman.....

You would be hard pressed to find a finer young man than Rex Burkhead. I've said for a long time that when he finishes his football career he needs to move back to Nebraska and open a business. Nebraskan's would buy whatever Rex was selling.
