Geez! Maybe I'm just getting old. In the past I accurized a good number of rifles. Now I'm working on this 7x57 Remington 700. I had it in a Houge stock and it shot really well. I don't want to give the stock away with the rifle so I put it back in its original stock. It shoots two rounds well from a cold barrel, then it starts acting up, pulling right, and it's inconsistent.
In every 700 sporter I've worked on in the past I free floated the barrel. This one has tip pressure, but also is in contact all along the left side of the channel. It took me too long to figure that out, when I should have known to check that from the start. The thing is I know that, but for some reason that never came to mind to even check it.
