I worked on all the tail numbers mentioned in this story. The only planes (tail numbers) left on active duty that I worked on are the AC-130Hs. http://www.afrc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123205909

When I worked on them, these aircraft were equipped to do a Fulton Recovery like the one in the John Wayne movie Green Berret and also seen in one of the James Bond movies. In the James Bond movie they used the Fulton Recovery system on a B-17 that belonged to the CIA.

Interestingly, about 9-10 years ago I worked in 'International" parts purchase supply for Lockheed Martin for a time, and the C-130 as used by other countries was my specialty. I can tell you that Canada was at that time flying one AC-130 C series, rigged to land on ice for far north, and someone else (can't remember who) was flying 2 B-Series models! I recall that they had a side door damaged and we were having to have one made, destructive tested, then another made, assuming the first passed) to replace it - it was that old of an airplane

The AC-130Hs are still flying and they are very old.

While the some of the C-130E's and H's are still around, the J model is the latest and greatest, and the AF is no longer flying them with navigators.
