I was at the range shooting some factory ammo and had one kick really hard and had a hard time getting the bolt open. Case had a bright place on the back side of the primer area and no primer. I call the company today and will be sending this remaining box of ammo back for them to look at. The gun has less than 80 rounds fired in it and is a 257 WBY MK V. My question is....do you think the gun is still safe to shoot or should I get it checked out by a gun smith? I have never had a problem with any other rounds.

It's safe. Had some factory STW ammo that blew 2 primers stretched the belt so it wouldn't fit in the shell holder.Gun always works fine.
WBY factory ammo is usually pretty warm. The Swedes don't mess around.

Friend of mine had the same thing happen with his MKV 270 Wby and factory 150SPs, fired 3 and the primer fell out of the cases. Wby replaced the ammo and he's had no issues since.
I'd personally keep running the rifle, brass is the weak link when pressures climb.
