Given the definition of what a politician is, no group of them ever votes against the will of 90% of the folks.

Keep in mind that we didn't really win anything, we just held our lines. We're so used to being on the defensive against the never ending push for more gun control that a fight to a draw feels like a win to us. We'll have won something when the nation starts repealing some of the multitudes of unconstitutional gun control laws. When you or I can walk into a gun shop and buy a gun without having to ask the government's permission it'll be a win. When you or I can purchase a newly manufactured select fire AR-15/M-16 without a "tax stamp", being fingerprinted, and asking permission of the local cops then it'll be a win. Today just maintained the status quo which is the only bright spot in this whole mess since the CT shooting. Keep in mind that since the shooting CT, NY, and CO have passed draconian gun control laws. We're fortunate that it seems to have stomped out at the national level, but citizens in several states are a whole lot less free than they were several months ago.
Far and away the most spot on post of the day. We are in deep trouble in many states. I'm hoping that the courage shown by some of the Democratic Senators will inspire a couple of fence riding Supreme Court Justices not to allow the BS laws passed in NY, CO, and CT.

listening to Bloomberg, Swinestein, hussein, biden..........hearing them talk about the NRA and others 'lying', almost makes you puke.
dhimmicrats have lied all through this legislative process. Hussein lied all the way through his presser. All they do is lie, and then, with chutzpah, ignore their own transgressions.

As the Senate debates and begins to vote on the Democrats gun control measure, and in spite of the fact that Obama has campaigned for weeks all across the country that "we must ban guns to save our children" the Gallup Poll finds that very few Americans buy that hype In a poll April 4-7 Gallup found that only 4% think guns and gun control are important issue.

Seems that he just doesn't understand a two party system and the fact that people have the right to disagree with him.
The numbers in the Senate tell the tale. Individual Senators fear the people not reelecting them and if they thought 90% was right, a huge number of them would have voted for this, Constitution and rights of the individual be hanged. I truly do not believe that many of them are gun rights advocates/constitutionalists. They listen when they think it is crucial to the furtherance of their career. If you want to know who the true gun rights people in the Senate are, look at those who would have filibustered. What, twelve or so? I forget the number. Most of the rest were just fearful that they would get put out on their ass. Look at Harry Reid.

I know you probably know all of this Skidrow, I just took the opportunity to expand upon that which you brought up.

U.S. Senators are not representatives of the people. They represent states rights, hense two per state and all states are represented equally.

what obama meant was that the bill was supported by 90% of the people he knows....and that's probably true. it is the media/academic/socialist coalition's issue, and they just can't believe the American people didn't succumb to four months of emotional blackmail and lies and go along with their program.

Obama is getting his numbers from the Quinnipiac University poll. Here is a link to that poll.

Afriad to poll red states

From January 30 - February 4, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,772 registered voters with a margin of error of +/- 2.3 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.

The Quinnipiac University Poll, directed by Douglas Schwartz, Ph.D., conducts public opinion surveys in Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, Ohio, Virginia and the nation as a public service and for research.

Because if they did that, they wouldnt be disarming the populace, who they could later subjugate.

Get a clue.....this has NOTHING to do with crime.

what were the stats of on-line versus point of sale purchases for the mass shootings of concern?

And of the on-line sales - how many were done face to face that required no background checks?

And of the point of contact purchases, how many were done face to face with a non-FFL holder?

I keep hearing this and I don't understand....I have bought many guns from online dealers. Every
one (unless they are eligible for a Curio and Relic FFL which I have)has been sent to a local FFL
where I pick it up and fill out the form and the dealer calls to see if I am "ok". I guess they are referring
to Craigs list or something like that where you buy from another individual??
They try to make it sound like you can just click on a gun and have it shipped to you with no records.

Craigslist won't list firearms, only non-serial number accessories.
