So a bartlien Remington varmint contour showed up at the door this week. I have a rem 308 action sitting here waiting for the new barrel. I'm not sure what to do with the barrel yet, I could leave it as is and order an A5 or A3 or get it turned down to some thing more of a sporter contour.

How does an A5 and a Remington varmint contour fit together?

Standard fill on the A5s? What about adjustable cheek pieces?

It's a 8.5 twist 4 grove .264 barrel, going 260

Sniper fill balances better with the 26" Varmint contour barrel.

I prefer a height adjustable stock pack because of the pocket and ammo loops, but YMMV.

A .260 will be sweet. I could like standard fill if going 24" barrel or shorter...

The Rhino camo A5 is standard fill, and is a bit nose heavy for shooting from field positions. My Arctic camo A5 is a similar rig, but has sniper fill, and balances better. Feels lighter as a result, although the rigs weigh in a few ounces from each other.

With scope and mounts it weighs 11.5 lbs. With bipod and stock pack it's at 13 lbs.

I have a 24" bartlien 5r 1:8 rem varmint that I had chambered in 6.5 creedmoor last fall. I got it 2 days before my deer hunt so I bolted into a B&C m40 unbedded and had shooting 1/4 moa with 140 vlds at 2810 the same day. Shot a 4x4 mule deer opening morning.

Now that its warming up I need to work up an Amax load and go find some rock chucks.

Ordered up an A5 tonight, now the wait begins. Need to order some bottom metal and get my mitts on some mags.
