A few questions regarding Ruger's lineup for 2013:
1. Why the heck wait to bring out the Guide Gun in .416? I mean, the 416 is the most PERFECT fit for the Guide Gun...why wait???
2. Why the heck chamber the African in .223???
3. With the new one-caliber-per-year deal for the No. 1 Tropical (this year's choice being the .375 H&H), do you suppose we might be that much closer to one day seeing the No. 1 Tropical in .470 NE (or even .500 NE)? If so it'd be a popular move, no question.
Well, no matter for as long as the .416 makes it into the Guide Gun series, I'll be happy. As for the .223 and the African, I'll remain forever perplexed by that one.

By the way, I wouldn't mind the 416 Ruger African except that I don't trust the stock to hold up. Honestly, I just can't see it. I realize that some of the problems with the 375 African stock splits may have been due to the gun having been used in a Leadsled. And I also understand that the tang has been relieved a bit more in the 416 African. But still, there's precious little wood-to-metal contact in the recoil-bearing department.

Training. Become familiar with an identical rifle that (used to be) cheaper to shoot then a 9.3 or 375 Ruger.

I'll be testing out that muzzle brake system shortly. Just received the Magnum Hunter (.300 Win Mag) for a review.
If you're fixin' to put a hole in something,
make it a hole to remember.

I sort of think that the some of the 2013 line up is pretty fugly, hopefully some will find it just what they were waiting for and Ruger will make money and after that we will have a return of some of the slightly more classic looking models in 2014 or 15.
Most of the discontinued models will be availible for those that want them if they search a little bit on gun broker etc.

I like the feel and hang of the new 416 Ruger African, with the sissy slots removed and the thread protector in place it is quite similar in feel to the original big bore bolt rifle, the 1905 Jeffery 404. ![[Linked Image]](http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk168/Grizskins/P1030893_zps3adec0c3.jpg)

I can imagine they do. Back then, it was all iron sights. Today, it is all scopes (except for me, as I still shoot irons, 100%).
