I thought about doing a like project then realized I have a 250 Savage. Momentary lapse of cognitive function?

The 257 Raptor is a 25-204. So, you're necking a 204 up to .257?

Awesome. That's one happy kid......and dad.
Those with TTSX's?
Mickey should have everything by week end. Should be an easy build. Can't wait to wring it out.

Careful, you may cause a mass exodus from the 223 case worshipers...

Picture of my first deer with a 25-205, from what I can find it is the first deer taken with the 25-205, it was in 2005.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Great Thread! I'm currently hunting for a 25-204 reamer, if I don't find one soon i'll just have to buy one. Have a 24" McGowan SS Barrel 1:10" left over from another project and a Rem 700 .223 with a pitted pipe. Should make a wonderful little walker. Talley Lows, 2-7x33.... win.

Talley lows and Leupold 6x42 for me. Should be 6-1/2 lbs all up easy.
Can't wait to put the chronograph to it. I usually just load up per Quickload and shoot if no signs of pressure. But I am going to play with this one a little. Will try Hornady 100 Gr SP in addition to 80 TTSX. I also have some Hornady 90 Gr GMX that I'll try.

.257 Kimber just sounds so much cooler though.

Hmmmmm. 257 Kimber..........or.............257 Raptor. Hmmmmmmmmm
Really what clinched it for me was when member crod put up a lot of 500 New Hornady 204 brass for cheap. That did me in. And the instant availability of 257 Raptor dies from from Reeder was the last nail.
Mickey got it yesterday and the action is already done and matte blue finish will be applied this weekend. Dammit. Getting giddy!

There was no Raptor when I built mine so my dies are market 25-204 EDC (Erich's Deer Cartridge). The Kimber peaked my intrest but moving shoulders is alot of extra work over the 204 case.
Keep us posted on your build.
Just picked up a bunch of the 75gr V-Max blems that Midway had on sale, going to give them a try on coyotes.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.
