Seems most Westfield 99's are frowned upon in the collector world. In the hours of reading here on the fire, it also seems the DL is desireable. What's a miss ???

I'm a vocal fan of the DL as a shooter due to the raised comb for scope use and light weight like the 50's 99F. But hey, they're all good!!

A DL was the first 99 I ever saw, held, and shot. Big fan of the DL, wish I had more of them, picked on up from Fireball a couple months ago

Got a line on one here local in 243 that I had a friend go look at. He bought it right there on the spot. Its his favorite 99 now. It was a hand checkered one.

If you like a DL, the only one you can get has a top tang safety. If you could get a DL with a lever safety that would top the Westfield 99DL's......

The post mil DLs had a much better stock for scope use but the quality had degraded somewhat from the pre-mills. There it is. You pays your money and you takes your chances. Do you want a pretty much hand fitted rifle or a rougher action that's friendlier to scopes?

Ain't gonna happen. The later the rifle the more shortcuts and cost cutting measures were taken. OTOH, you could pay the price to make them smoother.

Well, you could be right but you'd better be well aware of the intricacies of the M1899/M99 action. Its way easier to make it an unsafe firearm than it is to make it a target rifle with a light trigger. The M1899/99 action is one of the simplest actions but in that simplicity lies the fact that its way too easy to make it unsafe when trying to improve it.
