Never heard of Davis, a friend just showed me one that she was given. No magazine. I guess nothing's free. Didn't feel bad in the hand, a bit of heft to it for a pocket pistol and no slide lock that I noticed. She knows nothing about firearms and I told her I would see what I could find out.

If I can find her a magazine or two, I'll teach her to shoot it.

Wondering if anyone knows anything about these. Any leads on finding a mag or two?

Thanks
Dan

A bit of google brought bad news. I'll be recommending she not bother.

Inexpensive striker-fired cast zinc pistol.
Since this type of pistol should never be carried with a round in the chamber, it's rather limited in application as a defensive gun; especially so for many women who will have difficulty operating the slide in an emergency.
Also, these guns tend to be ammo-sensitive. However, you might be able to get it to run okay. Try various types of FMJ. Don't fool with hollow point. Mags are not expensive for these guns.

Tell her to throw it in the river & buy a KelTec P-380... Or better yet a S&W .38 snubbie or a Ruger LCR .38sp

Sure. When loaded, The firing pin (striker) is always cocked and held in place by a frame-mounted sear. The manual safety on this type of pistol merely blocks the trigger.
If part of the gun cracks, bends, bounces or twists, you can easily have a loud problem.

I had one for awhile. It was pretty accurate for a 380 Auto. I divested myself of it because of not being able to carry it with a round chambered.

davis was followed by i think jimenez pistols and the like, a favorite of the ghetto bird so to speak. Cops in my area loved them because you could almost guarantee they would jam or screw up which got rid of part of the problem as you dumped a full mag from your glock into the person holding the davis. Personally I think they are trash guns. There is a bunch of google fu on them, including i think the lawsuits which probably ran them out of business.
