What is the best commercially available 5.56 ammo (i.e., milspec)? Give me your first, second and third choices please. I know prices are high, but I've decided 5000 rounds ain't enough, considering how much homeland security is supposedly buing.
Also, is there a good source out there for 9mm, .40 SW and .380 Auto ammo?
Thanks,
Jordan

PMC 55gr FMJ or M855 green tip, I would prefer the PMC 'cause its more accurate and will fragment more reliably.

These days the best is any brass cased stuff you can find and afford.

Check Palmetto State Armory. They have had quite a bit of the Lake City.

I recommend this company, have been shooting their rounds for about 6 months, no issues with quality or components. Pretty sure I'm getting what I paid for, and they have been good to deal with on the phone, especially during the recent events and shortages. http://www.tacticalammunition.com

Wow, $324/500 rds of FMJ...it hurts. But at least they show a selection of stuff "in stock." Supply and demand rule the day, can't blame em. Thanks for the link I'll file that one away to watch and shop in the future.

This whole conversation reminds me of why I spent the $$ many years ago for a Dillon 550B....Even if you include the cost of brass at the outrageous today prices, 1,000 rounds of 223 is under $250 If you're looking for good ammo prices, use this tool: http://www.gunbot.net/

I'm with David W. on reloading, but there have been times when it was impossible to reload, or timing was not good for getting components.

I have a big jug of TAC, a coffee can full of 55gr Montana Golds, and plenty of primers to go with a Dillon. Life is good.

I couldn't afford to shoot like I do if I didn't reload.
TAC and 77 gr bullets for me though, it just costs a little more to load good ammo and not have to rezero different loads.

I am impressed with the 75 grain swift S2, but for banging away the PMC 55 grain ammunition is sure accurate. If you don't have any then 325 for 500 is better than none at all.
