A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

It depends upon what type of rifle you mean to convert - you haven't said.
If it's a boltgun, the bolt face would be too large for the Hornet, but it could probably be reworked by a good 'smith who knows what he's about.
If it's a FB or break-open single-shot, it doesn't make any difference.
If it's a repeater, you'll have more than bolt face & extractor fit to worry about - I doubt that a Hornet will feed from a .223 magazine.
.
It ain't no fun, when the rabbit's got the gun

WHAT THEY SAID! IF you want to make a hornet out of a 223... put less powder in the 223 !

Get an Anschutz 22H and yor will have n accurate gun that feeds properly from the magazine. If you don't like it, you probably can get your money back by selling it. Converting a 223 bolt gun will be expensive and may/may not work. And then you have an expensive gun that's likely not worth what you have in it.

Going from a 223 bolt gun to a hornet bolt gun has some challenges.
If the rifle in question is a Savage 110 type, Pacific Tool and Gauge makes a hornet head for that type of bolt.
If the rifle is a Remingtion 700, some folks have machined the bolt for the Savage head.
In either case, the rifles are single shot as the feeding from the magazines will be super costly if done at all.
If the rifle is a single shot, most can be done with a new barrel and touching/replacing the extractor.
The rifle will be oversize for the case in such a conversion.
There are a number of rifles still around for the hornet if you choose that route.
