My o6 sierra 4wd is getting ready to hit 100,000 and i am wondering about servicing it , specifically the heater hoses . Already had dealer service transmission but am changing the plugs , belts , antifreeze and hoses myself . Radiator hoses are simple enough but the heater hoses have some kind of quick connect . Anybody change these before ? They look fine and I am inclined to leave them . Anything else you would change out for routine service ?

I have a 98 Chevy and the only hose I've replaced is the lower radiator hose. The quality of hoses nowadays is so good that it's not a major concern for me.
The serpentine belt is built to last a 100k. Minor cracks in the rubber is normal and not an indication that the belt is bad. The only purpose the rubber serves is to align the belt in the pulleys. The strength of the belt is in the inner cords. If it has chunks of rubber missing or is starting to fray then it's time a new one. I keep an old belt zip-tied under the hood ... just in case.
I'm not familiar with the newer vortecs but I believe spark wires are also a 100k replacement item. Look in the owners manual or maybe somebody else will chime in about replacing the wires or not.

My 2003 5.3 got plugs and wires at 100,000 just because I felt like I should do something.
Original belts and hoses when I sold it at 225,000 last month. Basically a maintenance/breakdown free vehicle over 10 years.

change the oil and give her a nice bath. 5.3 and 6.0 vortecs are the most reliable gas motors on earth IMO. Ill be getting rid of my 2005 ram 2500 cummins and getting into a 2013 silverado 2500 6.0 ltz. Dont tow enough to justify the cummins, and maintence is a helluva lot cheaper on the chevy

Before I retired several years ago, our mechanic used to tell us that coolant hoses rotted from the inside out. Anything to that? I've never heard again about it.
I saw a movie where only the military and the police had guns. It was called Schindler's List.

Yep. Next time you have the hoses off for any reason, squeeze them and look for cracks inside or if they feel chalky or like bags of sand. At 100k, flush the coolant, change the diffs, change the transfer case and flush the brake fluid. Just wait to change the hoses until the water pump or radiator starts leaking. Won't be long before the rear main or oil pan starts leaking, so just wait and do both of them at the same time. And don't forget to reseal the cam sensor when you are at it. I would bet most rear main seal jobs could have been fixed if they just pulled the cam sensor first. And if you have the oil pan off, change to the updated seal on the oil pump pick up tube at the same time.( not sure on the manufactures update, 06 may already have it ) And I would recommend plugs and a fuel filter too. Wires only if you have had oil leaks on them.
