Carlos, you have the Rigby (until you give it to me as promised) so what good is a 270 really?
Really Carlos...is this some kind of a sick joke. You have a 7x57 and wonder if you should get rid of a .270..... Thats like having Heidi Klum and wondering if you should get rid of Rosie Odonnel....

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Get rid of a 6.5? Blasphemer! AM NOT! I've never blasted a femur, EVER. I did shoot a rabbit's little bunnymaker off when I was about seven, though, with Dad's old Stevens 22............Lawdy, he squealed loud, too!

If you like the 30-06 better, then I think you've already answered your question. They are both fantastic rifles. For hunting white tails the .270 is probably a better caliber, but if you like the 06 and you shoot it well.... Keep it!

Which one would you choose to take hunting if they stood next to each other. Some rifles just feels right.
I would choose the one that you prefer to take hunting.

My own view is that unless you are in brown bear country where the 200-220 gr 30/06 bullets hold an undeniable advantage, any difference between the two can be pretty much ignored if you pick the right bullets for each.
The 280 Remington is overbore.
The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

I agree with Bob, unless big bears are in play, there is very little difference. I am a 30-06 fan but have to admit that the 270 is probably a better medium game cartridge. But Bob is right, for deer etc. there is very little difference between a 130gr .277 bullet at 3060fps or a 150 gr .308 bullet at 2910fps. Both those figures can be improved with handloading.

Sell both and get a 280--but I though you already had one of those.
