What loctite do you guys use when you mount your scopes? Do you torgue to specs or just tighten them down? If you torque, where did you get tool?

Thanks

Blue loctite (liquid is blue but it comes in a red tube) on bases and nothing on rings. I just tighten down but try not to over do it

Clean/degrease the screws and screw holes with acetone or alcohol, let them dry, and use a drop or two of Blue Loctite.

I have a Warne torque driver that will only allow me to tighten the screws to a set level, but it has been awhile since I snapped a screw-head off and had to drill out the broken stud.

Brownells and Midway sell torque wrenches I personally do not like Loctite I have not had a problem by just using a torque wrench.

If you get too heavy on the screws you can damage the scope without snapping a head off. 20 lbs is plenty for any ring. I agree; loctite on bases, not on rings.

I emailed Talley a couple of weeks ago regarding recommended torque. They told me 25 inch lbs on the bases, 18 on the rings. Have never used loctite.

I agree with the no loctite . I have never had a problem w/o it and have seen several sets of rings and bases trashed because of it. Even saw a buddy have to redrill a receiver on a gun he traded for that some knothead had loctited into place.

I quit using Loctite on bases. No advantage on the guns I'm shooting. I don't shoot anything that kicks hard enough to make it necessary or even desirable. Using Warne or Talley rings/bases with torx heads, never had anything come loose. Like folks are saying ... just get a torque wrench.

I use blue and have never had a problem. However, I have had problems when I didn't use it. Especially on an old win model 100 that liked to rattle everything loose.

No loctite, don't need it.

Clean/degrease all screws, threads, & contact points for bases & rings with acetone or denatured alcohol & allow to dry.

Torque to specs: I bought a Sears Craftsman Micro Click 5-75 in/lb torque wrench years ago on sale for about $65 strictly for the loading/work bench and it does everything I need including screws for bases, rings, action screws/bolts on stocks, etc.

I use blue Loctite and a Borka torque wrench to torque the screws back. You can't properly mount a scope without a torque wrench.

My word I can, you just watch me.
