Sorry about the job Ryan. Keep your chin up and enjoy what you do until something else comes along.

Wow, I've got some pretty neat friends here at the campfire.

Couple of guys in particular come to mind at the moment, I've got lots of extraordinary friends here, but I have to share with you a couple of gifts I received this spring. Pretty cool.

First, it was gophergunner who took a particular interest in my alcohol free experiment. (I'm coming up on 11 weeks now, don't miss it) Gopher and I have had some pretty meaningful conversations in private. I had made mention of the idea of picking up a new pocket knife for myself with money I was saving by cutting out drinking.

Gopher sends me this:

Kershaw leek

Very cool, I've carried it every day since I got it.

Now today I get home from work and there's a package in the mailbox.

Some years ago, like maybe 08? I took one of Jelky's knives on a Colorado elk hunt, the knife got used, really nice knife. Then again in... 09? Jelky sent another of his creations along on another elk hunt with me.

This one.

It got used a lot, It cut up 3 elk on a ridge as the boys did not have their knives with them on the day we scored on 3 elk.

Well that knife came back to me today. It was like seeing an old friend. When I held it, it all came back... the fall aspen air, sage, the cutting of 3 elk, the whole trip. It was pretty neat.

He put a note with the knife saying it was just laying around (Isn't that what most of our knives do with most of their time? grin )

He figured I'd give it a good home. Well I damn sure will, I'll put it to use.

Now, I have 2 scoundrels to get even with rather than just one...

lol!

Thanks very much guys and sorry if I've embarrassed you by posting it but it's pretty cool.

I will get my "revenge"

grin

No need to get even at all Dave. I was glad to be able to share with you what we have talked about. You did all the heavy lifting, and it's not done yet.

That right there makes us even in my book.

I hope you use the hell out of that thing and pass it down to one of your kids.

There are friends. And then there are FRIENDS. FRIENDS are hard to come by and appreciate every one you have! Then again, there are knives and there are KNIVES. KNIVES are hard to come by and appreciate every one you have! To get a KNIFE from a FRIEND is indeed a good day! Way to go Gopher and Elky!

Hmmm. That makes me smile. I can smell the Aspen, feel the crisp cool air on my face, see the glow of the camp fire, and hear uncle Dusy's chuclke as he's sitting around the fire with a brandy and a big smile.
