1200 yards?? I would love to see your 22 centerfire setup for hunting and shooting groups at 1200 yards.
Since groups are in short supply, how about people post their longest kills on varmints with 22 centerfires and include how many shots it took them to make the hit.
I haven't posted any groups yet because I'm requesting that others making certain claims defend them. Hell, post the proof and I might even plunk down some more money and give it another run myself. I'll admit that in theory a big fast twist 22 seems like a virtual utopia --- limited recoil, awesome bullet BC that lets you cut wind drift in half, etc. What's the catch?...or is everyone who doesn't own one just ignorant?
There is a gentleman on here that I really enjoying reading posts by (I think his name is Pat) and by all accounts he appears to be a great shooter and hunter. I believe he has shot some deer with a 220 swift in the past --- that one have a fast twist tube? (I honestly can't remember) I always appreciate that while he is a hunter first and foremost, he also posts pictures of groups to demonstrate the accuracy capability of the rifles he shoots.

Here a couple 800 yard groups from a 223 I screwed together a couple weeks ago. I did no load work just picked a top end load from quickload and started loading them on a dillon progressive. If I had a mind to I suspect i could cut those groups in half if I did some load work and loaded them like I do my long range rounds. Last week I punched it to 223AI and it shots about the same, coming real close to 1/2 MOA. I cannot consistently hold better than those groups with a 9x max power scope with no parallax adjustment. I have killed several PDs past 1K with a fast twist 22x47 I cannot remember if the furthest was 1200 or 1400 yards and yes it took several shots because wind is a beast. All you can do is get the vertical out of the load and hope the wind reacts the same on your second round. Try that with a 55gr bullet and you will go insane.

Pat's Swifto was on its ninth barrel as of last year...hard to say what all the twists have been, but Id wager most were not the usual 1 in 14. For me personally if I plan on going much past 300 yds with a cf .22 it will be my Hart barreled ( 1 in 10......its third barrel ) .223 and Hornady 68 BTHP match. Personal best on a goph was 467 yds. One shot. Im not sure on PDs but it would be pushing 600 ...( I know...not exactly a large volume case....) And yeah, though I champion loose twists cause Im normally too cheap for custom barrels, tight twist shoot a larger spectrum of weights well, making them ultimately more versatile.

Some 450 yard'ish groups with a 1-8" twist, granted they were fireform loads. 708 yards, 1-8"

Deflave --- great shooting with that 22-250. Can you tell me more about your setup and load? I might be convinced to buy another 1-8 blank.
That's a Weatherby Vanguard with a Douglas #3 stainless, McMillan Sako Classic, Timney trigger, M8 6X42. 1-8" twist. Glass bedded and Krylon painted by a drunken me. Shoots the 75gr. A-Max at just under 3,300fps. RL 15 is my powder. Travis

This is BillyGoatGruff's rig. It's a 1-8" 22-250 AI. 520ish yards COLD barrel. One shot. Winds were not bad but probably gusted up to around 15 that day. I watched him connect at this range 5 for 5 that day. I think that rig goes about 7lbs and wears a 3-9X. Travis

I just can't figure out what tube length to go. I'm not a fan of long tubes but...
Still thinking 22"

Sorry, I don't have a great scope or muzzle brake on my fast twist .223's..
I guess I don't know what I'm doing.
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

I've got a little bit of everything in the bag, like a golfer does, depending on the situation.

I guess I don't know what I'm doing. I just look over the top of the scope so I can see where I'm hitting. Travis

I guess I don't know what I'm doing. I put a muzzle brake on my 17 Fireball but that's only because I'm shooting at under 100 yards with a 45x scope.

I got me some of them See-Thru mounts for that, but I look under the scope to see where Im hitting. Pretty skookum set-up...
