I like'em. Setting the car on cruise control and closing my eyes for 5 minutes works wonders on long trips. Keeps you from falling asleep for longer periods, which could be dangerous.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

I use them. They help me to feel better. Usually 20-30 min or so. I worked with someone a long time ago who had perfected them. He could fall asleep anywhere, for exactly the time he needed. He was fresh and awake when were tired and worn out. I've been trying to learn how ever since. He was very dedicated to them. Eat a light lunch, usually a sandwhich, then out for 20 minutes. Works. re

Every now and then, I do one, they seems to work pretty well if I am doing mentally fatiuging work, 30 mins of shut eye and I can go for hours more.
That guy in the original story, he doesn't need a nap, he needs a lap band and a treadmill.

Dam*** Right. One of the great benefits of retirement (mostly). Cant work them in every day, but if possible, a boon for staying up late for something. MUST HAVE before one of the wife's dinner parties. NB

Years ago I worked third shift at IBM in Endicott NY, every lunchtime my lead tech would doze of in the middle of a story, ten munites later his eyes would pop open and he would finish up what he was talking about like nothing had happen.

Grew up on a dairy farm, getting up at 4:30 AM. Usually, unless realy moving due to haying, etc., Dad & I would catch 20 minutes after lunch, then right up & at em until 6:30-7PM. Continued during bmy teacher days during my lunch & now still look forward to a good nap.

Every Friday night. Come home from work, countdown timer gets set for 1-2 hours depending on my evening. If it is a social evening, shower and head out. Otherwise rolol outta bed and watch movies until late. Can still wake up early and go to bed at 3am.
It's about like this:
"Do you puff peters?"
"Hell no!"
"NAZI!!!"

I can always take a "power nap". It just turns in to a 4 or 5 hour deal that screws everything up for the rest of the day!

I figure if I can't afford at least an hour for a nap, then why bother at all.

Deer stand - 18 feet above the scrub - 20 MPH breeze - 8 degrees - I'm curled up inside my goose down coat and pants. THE PERFECT NAP TIME!
Somehow I can still hear the deer walking down the mountain and the sound of their hooves breaking through the crusty snow wakes me up.
