Are there any mole traps out there that you folks use that are effective.? I'm using one of these but have only killed one mole in 5 years with it, get lots of false triggers.. I've tried a couple of these, but they just seem to push dirt into them until they go off.. And I've tried these, but don't think they're effective because of the large amount of tunneling.. I'm talking moles, not gophers. I can catch gophers all day in one of these, but strike out on the moles.

Try Black Hole Gopher traps

We've had the best luck with the scissor spring type of trap, especially if the trigger pan is modified to make it more sensitive. My wife and her dad used to have annual mole trapping contests.

i have one i have tuned on it a little bit, but it still doesn't work very well. plus i have small children, so it's a hazard.
if you have grubs and earthworms, you will have moles. i could use a lawnroller once/week and still not keep the mole hills down.
get rid of the food, get rid of the moles.

get rid of the food, get rid of the moles. That is true, but in a healthy yard, it really isn't desirable to get rid of all of the earthworms.

$2 a day plus feed. Seriously, he'd woof at the door with a dead mole on the porch. Only woofs with a mole. If he wants in he taps on the door.

Yep, my mole hunter. She's killed 7 that I know of in the past month.

That's the same one that I use. Took a while to get the knack. Might be the scent when when it was new. Might want to boil it to get the oils off and then let it sit out side for a few days to get the odor off. I dig out the tunnel, place the trap along it, then put a black plastic flower pot (the kind with a few drain holes along the edge) over the set. My theory is that the mole sees the light from the drain holes and will approach into the trap to investigate. Been able to catch them in minutes, never more than over night.

the best ones that I have used and are effective are the EZ set mole eliminator. I got mine at Tractor Supply for about $25. I have never had a flase alert and if you follow the directions, such as stepping on the tunnels to see which are active they are super effective. Here is a link to what I am talking about. In my yard two years ago i went 7/8. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000SDKGC6

I've caught four in the last week on a new account. You can find them around $23 if you shop around.

Here's how ya do it ... survey the lawn and note where the most active diggin' is going on. Set up your lawn chair with six-pack cooler about 10 feet away during the hottest part of the afternoon (when they are most active). If you're in the city have a shovel handy ... if in the country a 12ga. Watch for the tunnel to start rising/falling. Put muzzle of 12ga right over the activity and squeeze trigger ; dig with shovel about 4" behind the diggin' and pop up the li'l bastid. Once popped, launch said bastid into the air like you used to do with a baseball and take a full swing with the shovel. Extra points are earned based on distance traveled.
Dave Sticks and stones may break my bones ... but hollow-points expand on impact.
