Is the Leupy 2 x 7 the only way to go? And if so, which configuration?

I like Leupold fine.I also have a 2-7 Kahles that is nice but they are hard to find. Zeiss just came out with a 2-7 Terra but I haven't seen it or heard any reviews yet.

The Leupold has good eye relief and a good eye box.The 2-7 range is my favorite scope.

Leupold VX2 2-7x33 with a heavy duplex reticle.

At last count, I had 79 2-7x scopes, but the VX2 2-7x33 is my favorite scope and the heavy duplex is my favorite hunting reticle.

I'll second the Kahles - one of my favorites in any X configuration.

There are certainly no flies on the VX2 either.

I had a Kahles that I foolishly let get away. Great scope.

I have a Silver Leupold VXI 2-7x33 Heavy Duplex Shotgun Muzzleloader scope I bought here used that was a good fit
for my Ruger 77 RSI stainless 7mm-08.
Can you buy a NEW Leupold VX2 2-7x33 with the Heavy Duplex
or would I have to send it to Leupold?

I'll be looking for another 2-7 one of these days and I plan on checking out the Bushnell Elite 2-7x32 and the Nikon Monarch 2-8x32. I tend to favor the Elites.

I have a custom 98 Mauser 7x57 carbine that needs to wear a 2-7 again...

If you want a VX2 with a heavy duplex, you've got to send it in to Leupold for the reticle swap.

I've used the Loopy 2-7 for seemingly ever. I've never had one fail in any manner, and I use them on everything from a 243 to 416 Rigby.

The new versions are bright and crisp, and they still have the great Leupold eye box that is fast to find and forgiving.

I've owned a lot of high-end European scopes but I have to admit it's pretty hard to beat a Leupold and after owning a lot of the high-end stuff I am pretty much coming back to Leupold for a myriad of reasons. It's a no-brainer to justify super high-end optics in binocs and spotting scopes but for scopes I'll take really good optics with great reliability and service (like Leupold).

The only thing about that is that the Elite only has 3" of eye relief and the Monarch is nearly half again as heavy(about 4 oz.) as the Leupold. The Leupold has a lot of all around appeal.I've only used the VariX and VXII versions but I hear the VX2 is even better.

Leupold but it's strictly emotional going back to Bob Hagel's writings - I'm sure there are better in every respect out there but nothing else goes back to my younger days.

2.5-8x32 Conquest hands down, want a 2-7 Terra to compare. 2-7x32 Vortex Viper is a corker too. Reticle on my VX-I washes out way early in low light. Cheap Chicom Columbia Sportswear (Kruger Optical) 2-8x32 holds its own with the Conquest pretty well, and tracks great.

Best bang for the buck is the Vortex at Cameraland for about $200.

It is much better than my Leupolds to my eyes. YMMV.
