Varget and RL15 unavailable right now , I found IMR4064 and bought a LB , but the local shop has 2 more LBS that i can go back and get if I want it , had a LB of IMR 4895 on hand but haven't spent a lot of time on it with either rifle .Have 140 and 150 sierra btsp for the 7mm-08 and 165 btsp for the 308 . Anybody run either very much and have load suggestions ?

I rum IMR 4064 out of my 7mm-08 with a 120 grain bullets and .308 with a 150 grain bullet. I am getting outstanding results out of both. 42.6 grains for the 7mm-08 and 44.0 grains in the .308.

I have used IMR-4064 for years in many different 7-08's. Only with 139 and 140 grain bullets. Whether it was a Remington, Browning, Tikka or custom Sako they all shot great by my standards. Shot great, means right around MOA and some are half that when I am steady. My loads were 42 to 43 grains. I have had about the same luck with IMR-4064 in the old 30-06. I always have some loaded up in case I need to try someone else's rifle after tinkering with it.

IMR 4895 and 4064 are great in the 308.

Have a 7-08 couldnt get it to shoot well with 4895 4831 4350 or varget tried 4064 42 gr. 120 gr. bullet and got 1" consistent

I have tried IMR 4064 in my 243 and my 300saum but neither one was spectacular. Kind of sucks too because there is lots here in town right now!

IMR 4064 is one of many powders that will work well in the 7mm-08, at least with the 139/140s I've burned it behind. It's also a very good powder with 150s in the 308. I would imagine it will work with other weights as well.

If I could only pick two powders to use for the rest of my reloading life.... if they were IMR 4064 and IMR 4895, I wouldn't have ANY complaints about that choice whatsoever...

When I first started reloading in the 70's I shot a Lot of IMR4895 in .308 behind 165gr. bullets. It became my go to powder in .308. More recently I have been loading for ,257 Roberts and .35 Whelen. After extensive research and range testing, IMR4064 is my powder of choice in those two calibers. I can recommend both powders very highly, they will make excellent substitutes while Varget and RL-15 aren't obtainable.

I've been using 44.5 grains of IMR4064, FED GM210 primers, and a 165 grain Hornady BTSP Interlock in my .308 WIN, Winchester M88 for several years (used that load in HORN, R-P, FC, and W-W brass - COL 2.690"). The load clocks 2645 fps (Chrony set up at 10' from muzzle) and gives me 1" to 1-1/8" groups at 100 yards out of my very tempermental M88 (22" barrel). Nice thing about IMR-4064 is that it has always been more available than the other "go to" .308 WIN powders (Re15 & Varget) around here.

Those are 2 of the best powders for both of those cartridges. You shouldn't have any problem finding good loads with them.
