Press is a piece of cake. Just boil some water, put the grounds in, pour in the hot water, stir and wait 4 minutes.

Coffee with all the natural oils still there and not leached out into a paper filter.

My elk camp has a french press. Only way to fly.

Just an FYI for those who suffer from arthritis--

Quitting drinking coffee was the best thing I did to reduce my arthritis suffering.

I got one word on coffee makers: Chemex. So simple a PhD. can do it. No moving parts.

My taste buds are so old, tho, that I can't tell the difference between an $6 a pound coffee and the really expensive, ultra-extra elite beanies.....guess I shouldn't move to Seattle.

Dunkin coffee! I love that stuff.

For the weekends I use an electric perolator.

The key to a perc is to find one that does not overheat the water and ruin the coffee.

The perc needs seperate heat elements for brewing and maintaining the finished coffee. Or a switched heat element that steps down to hold temp.

Did he scuff his tasseled penny loafers in the process?

I don't use a filter in my stove-top percolater. Doesn't that mean I'm getting all the coffee oils, too?

You sure it wasn't quitting the sugar you put in it that did it?

Did you say you can French Press a 180 pound dude?

Oh. I see the comma now. Still makes me a little queasy.

Didn't use sugar.
I'm open minded on the idea, then. That said, I haven't suffered much from arthritis since cutting way back on starch a few years ago.

I really like my french press I got just a few month ago over my dripper, but the drip coffee is so much easier when getting ready for work. Also found Mistobox coffee subscription company to experiment tasting different kinds of coffee beans. http://www.mistobox.com/

when I am at my Miami condo, I use the Keurig machine. Even then, I bring my own beans, grind them, and use the little "my K cup' thing. Coffee has to be ground pretty fine for use in the Keurig, since the grounds don't stay in contact with the brew water more than a few seconds.

At home in Gainesville, I use a French Press.

First morning in Brisbane I take a stroll for a cup. There are coffee shops about every 30 meters or so it seems. "How ya goin'?" "A large coffee please." "Do you want a long black, short black, flat white, what'll you have mate?" "Ugh, just black coffee with a bit of cream and sugar." Out comes a cup of coffee with a mound of whip cream on top.

I was diagnosed with Barrett's disease back in early January and one of the MANY thins they said I had to quit was coffee. Well, I didn't quit altogether but if 1.5 cups of decaf a day kills me so be it............<grin>

I don't miss the high test good stuff too often but a walk down the coffee/tea isle at Wegman's is heavenly!!

The kids had broken my nth coffee carafe last year, so I got a French press. I kind of enjoyed the process of making coffee that way, & it was tasty, too. I gave it up, though, when I saw some research that shows French press coffee raises LDL cholesterol.

My numbers where pretty bad last Fall, so I made several changes to fix them. It worked, but I can't say how much was attributable to forgoing the French Press brew.

And, it helped that I was able to find a Cuisinart drip coffee maker with a stainless steel carafe. The kids haven't been able to break that one. wink

Get some good beans and grin them fresh. Put them through one of these and don't look back.
