Looking for a few calls to purchase that I can use while deer/hog hunting when the action is slow? Anyone know of some decent calls that "blow" easy and work? Anyone call in hogs using a distress call? Recommend a manufacturer and call.

Anything from Kerry Carver of carverpredatorcalls.com they are beautifully made and tuned to perfection. Hard to beat...
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I like Talley Ho's and critr calls. Check out allpredatorcalls.com for a great selection of commercial calls as well as a few customs.

I really like the standard crit-r-call. They have amazing volume for such a small call, and they are easy to blow and make different sounds with.

I use tweety from verminators and syco and a old weems call. I Have better luck with tweety for cats around here and i try to make more of a raspy sound, and have a sqeaker of some kind.

Esox357: I recommend the Primos brand Raspy Coaxer model. I just saw one today at my local pawn/gunshop priced at $8.00! It was new in the bubblewrap. I would have bought it as I often give these away as gifts to new "callers", but I have several on my shelf already. The Primos Raspy Coaxer is easy to use and is a very efficient predator attracter. Best of luck to you. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

Here are some more for you to look at. TS Predator Calls by T.J. Shockler: http://tspredatorcalls.com/I will add the Burnham Bros. Mini-Blaster to the list along with a strong endorsement of the Crit'R Call Standard and PeeWee.

There are a few that have stood the test of time in various parts of the West, South, and Mexico.
ebay item: 380431025916 is a Lohman variable pitch it is without a doubt one of the best calls that I have ever used. It is a closed reed call that is very easy to blow. I have called in two black bear, a Tule Bull elk, and numerous deer not to mention all types of preditors. This call can be quickly adjusted to sound like a mouse or a wounded calf or deer. The deep guttural sound really get them hopping.
The Johnny Stewart PC 1 is another call.
All open reed calls are hard for beginners to blow and master, avoid them if you are new to calling.
On Ebay, you will see the Weems Wild call Duo tone at times, it is the grand pappy of calls, but not second to the Lohman Adjustable that I mentioned. These coarse raspy calls do not duplicate the std rabbit calls but sound more like wounded larger meals.
There are many others, but the Lohman you must get, I have been calling since 1977.

Limited calling experience for ducks/goose. Never tried varmint calling per se other than a mouse squeaker I carried with me when I get bored with little to no results. I need maybe 3-5 calls that I will pick out to take and give it a try when it is slow hunting or out filling anterless tags. Thanks.

Primos lil dog is a great coyote call. Yes, also an excellent call. You may want to get the instructional DVD package by Randy Anderson if you have never blown an open reed. They are easy, in my opinion... Anything is easy to blow for you. Haha, bastard.

Sceery AP-6 if'n you're buying one in a blister pack.... and one of Major Boddicker's 'Song Dogs' should be in everyone's stable.
If going the custom route.... I'll throw in another endorsement for Kerry Carver, not only does he build beautiful calling instruments.... but he's a top notch guy as well. Ric Robbins out of Tenino, WA is a great guy and call builder too.
You better pray to the God of Skinny Punks that this wind doesn't pick up......

Agreed,,, cept for the Ebay part. Dan Thompson makes (actually made as he's past) the "Weems Replica". I think AllPredatorCalls still has some. It's pretty close and a dang good call, as are all of Dans calls. I like Dan Thompson and Mark Zepps calls the best but Mark's can get a little pricy. As stated above, closed reed's easier for beginners. Luck
