if it is legal, does your doctor have to send the prescription to them, in order for it to be filled?

a recent "drug" purchase Stateside has got me to wondering. and y'all know how much i enjoy "wondering."

A customer of mine gets Prednisone for her dog from Mexico. She says she saves about seventy five percent.

UPS, FedEx, US Postal Service, i guess it all works.

maybe the flip side of the question is how best to price a mediciene Stateside in order to hopefully gain the lowest price? we're talking some expensive mediciene, and am looking for a lower cost supplier. no insurance involved, whatsoever.

Sometimes the manufacturer will give a huge discount to folks with no insurance, Might be worth checking into.

It is legal because most online Med Dealers will have you fill our a form online about your health and one of their doctor will write the prescriptions for your order. When in Mexico i buy 4 or 5 Z-packs of Antibiotics because most drug in Mexico doesn't require a prescription.

Gus,

My better half uses this company in Canada for her migraine meds. We've been very pleased with their service.

thanks for the input. my 90 year old mom has been prescribed some very expensive medication to help reduce the risk of stroke (not guaranteed of course).

we are on the hunt for the lowest prices. i appreciate everyone's input. it helps us to better understand the challenge in front of us.

yep. the hunt is on. we're learning things we never thought possible only about three months ago.

likely, the eldest amongst us aren't being treated as humanely as our dear animal friends. but, i digress. such a discussion is likely to stir up a hornet's nest of angry WASPs.

i appreciate everyone's input.

Depending on your mom's financial assets and retirement income she may qualify for various patient assistance programs for low income individuals needing assistance paying for expensive but necessary drugs. I've known of a few elderly folks who have badly needed and used it for low or no cost drugs. To my knowledge this is not a government program.

Be aware that many of those vendors who are claiming to be in Canada are not.

Some just have "Canada" in the name and that is it -- the data server can in the Caribbean or India, and the company itself may be in Mexico or anywhere else -- not in Canada (and thus not subject to Canadian regulations and inspection).

Several investigations in the US have shown that ordering from these online companies delivers fake drugs about 25% or 30% of the time, if I recall correctly. I'm sure these will be easy to find with some Googling.

One thing that you can do if you use Firefox is to download the addin "Website City + Country Info" which will at least show you where the server is. For example, right now it is showing the 'Fire as "United States City: Los Angeles Geo:34.05-118.26, Isp: WebNX Org: WebNX IP: 67.229.214.234 -and that is with about half of the info options turned off.

Of course, a valid Canadian company could use a company with a server in Russia or the like -- IN THEORY. In practice, I would assume that they are shady.

If you think you are ordering from fron friendly site with a nice name like "Canada Drugs" or "Canadian Pharmacy" and the server is in Russia, well... let's just say that any effect of the Viagra you buy will likely be due to the placebo effect.

Not saying that there are NOT good stores in Canada selling legitimate drugs to Americans via the internet because there are, but be careful because any name can be registered anywhere in the world! You should not assume that your company is really in Canada (even if your parcels come from Canada --- there are hundreds of re-mailing companies around the world).

I'd hate for anybody here to die because their medication was fake.

If you can simply visit a pharmacy in Canada once, ask if in the future you can mail them your prescription and have them post it back to you. You (and they) will know who you are dealing with.
