I have 5 Browning 71s right now. 4 of them have the same serial number "sequence" and are NIB. The other is mint but gets rounds down the tube.

I thought everybody had two of everything. Well, mine are not exact copies. I usually do one in blued/wood for nice days and one in stainless/synthetic for bad weather. I guess I may not be "normal", but I'm looney enough for the campfire.

I always assumed that all serious hunters had an exact duplicate rifle as a backup. Same rifle, scope, ammo, etc.

A guy I hunted with for many years had a pair of BSA Majestics in 30-06. He bought them at the same time in the 60's and they had consecutive serial numbers. He scoped one and left the irons on the second.

Bob!!! WTF!!!!! Are you telling me that two matched pairs of P-64 Mod. 70s, in good synthetics, good "peep" sights and Talley QDs with Leupies are FRIVOLOUS????? Have you gone LIBERAL on us?! Geez, I see NO "frivolity" in owning/using 2-4 PAIRS of carefully tuned, scoped matched rifles, especially in .338WM and .280Rem. as EVERYONE KNOWS these are THE BEST for serious hunting in North America! Bob, old son, I am WORRIED about ya, boy, perhaps a visit to BC next year will get your head back where it should be, eh!

Have you ever bought a duplicate rifle, same model and caliber? I have a rifle that I like so much that I am thinking of buying another in the same exact caliber. I guess they would be my twins. Two Steyr Forresters Safe Bolts, one each in .260/6.5x55 The 6.5x55 is in blue.

I had at one time 3 M70 Classic FWT rifles in .30-06. One blued in the original wood, one blued in a McMillan FWT stock and one that was just a SS barreled action. Bought a Hunters Edge off the classifieds and dropped the SS barreled action in it and sold the rest off.

Only one of these remains. Have had many duplicates over the years but sold almost all of them.

(2) H&R Handi (2) Encores in 35 Whelen. One I use, the other three are loaners/backup during Miss. primitive season when my New England friends come down to hunt.

If a guy wants to be frivilous, well thats OK. I have three 270's right now.

Though we have a handful of different calibers; all the kids and I have in BG rifles are pre 64 M70s of some type. Find what you like and stick with it..... I guess we're pretty boring.

Your boring is pretty slick Randy. Great rigs you have setup. I'd take one in 270 and one in 9.3x62 and call it good.

I've never set out to buy a duplicate rifle but I've ended up with quite a few. Of the dupes I've got, few of them will get the same results with the same ammo. They each need a accuracy work up for them alone. An example: I have 2 22-250's. Same model, same trigger pull, etc. One prefers the 52gr SMK, the other likes the 53gr SMK. And each likes a slightly different dose of H380 to do its best work.
Aim for the exit hole.
