5.56 for Coyotes and 6.8 SPC for Deer and Hogs
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

6.8 for deer. I had my brother build it for me. I haven't decided if it is here to stay or not. I'm still trying to get used to the way it feels and it is not going well. I'm more of a blued steel and walnut kind of gun nut. Every time I pick it up I think "this could have been an 88 Winchester in 284."

I have one set up for predator hinting and like it its compact, and accurate for distant coyotes and fox, yet easily adaptable for night time use. By adding a tlr gamespotter green light on one section of rail, and a white tlr hp. White light on another section

I'm hunting with a 6.5mm Grendel. I decided to build a Grendel because it seemed like an all around good caliber that could achieve just about anything you needed it to do in a pinch. Good caliber for hunting varmints, deer, hog and even bigger game like Elk in a pinch. Its supersonic out past 1000 yards so also makes a good patriot rifle to have in a worse case scenario. You know Red Dawn kind of nightmare. I have a 308 bolt and a 5.56mm carbine but the Grendel is my go to rifle. I'm hunting hogs with it in San Diego which is a tough problem. I haven't gotten a shot off yet and only seen two in the last couple months of trying. Our hog population is rather new an the San Diego back country is pretty rough and covered with brush that's impossible to move in. I've got a Redfield Battlezone AR mounted on it for a optic. I decided on the Redfield Battlezone because it has the Leupold warrenty and is pre setup for 308. The Grendel tracks the 308 trajectory pretty closely so it should work well. I built it with a AR Stoner 18in 1/8 twist SS barrel. A skeleton stock and a aluminum front hand grip tube i got from Windham Weapons. The upper is a JD Machine Tech and the lower is a no name 80% i picked up at a local San Diego machine shop and finished it at another shop for a 50 dollar fee. The camo job is just a home done job with camo Krylon paint from Wally World using yard grass as stencils. I have a mag lock installed from AR MR2 that locks the mag until the upper and lower a separated there by meeting the definition of a fixed mag. The sling is a Viking hunting sling that i really like and lets me climb the boulders and bush whack hands free.

Best truck gun ever. Short enough to maneuver in the cab, a quick adjustment to the stock and it is rock steady for a long shot. 5.56 is great for coyotes, marmots, skunks, porkies, P-dogs and even for the gophers way out there. I have not loaded heavies for deer, my RRA is at 9 lbs with a 3-9 on it, and I have lighter rifles for carrying. I would really like to build a lightweight AR for general use, but the accuracy of my heavy RRA is amazing.

Meet a guy yesterday that offered to walk me through the first batch with my gear once i get it all. I picked up some Barnes TSX 120gr bullets that I'm going to use for hog hunting and Hornady SST 123gr for fall deer season. So far I've just picked up the Hornady single stage press and a few pieces of equipment.

POF P-308, 16.5" barrel. This thing was punishingly loud until I bought a suppressor. Also have a 10" SBR in 300 BLK that's been out to the woods a few times but still haven't seen anything to take. Really quiet with the can.
If 2nd amendment rights can be subject to licensing and fees, how was the poll tax unconstitutional?

The one in the pic is a Weaver Tactical 3-15x50. It now wears an IOR Valdada 4-14x50 which is a heavy beast (38 oz). ADM Recon mount.
The rifle with no magazine or optics with just the Troy folding sights is 8 lbs 14 oz. it's not light by any stretch.

.243 wssm. works well on antelope, among other critters. this .204 has killed a couple truck loads of coyotes including this quad. Even use a .223 on coyotes every now and then so that it don't collect too much dust in the safe.
Laws aren't preventative measures. In other words, more laws won't prevent gun crime from happening.
