I guess it depends on how old you are?? The 280, .257 wea., and 243AI, were hot years ago..Now younger folks are finding them again.. The .223 AI interests me only if I were able to high volume shooting at p. dogs..I think the quick twist rifles might be the blooming calibers of late, but again that idea goes back to just after WW2..No matter they are all fun..

Yes the 6.5's are a fad now, but they were also popular years ago..6.5 QT, 6.5 Gibbs and a 6.5/270 were all in use in the 50's and 60's..BUT they do have far better bullets today..All calibers..

Cartridge or caliber? This site has a hardon for anything Ackley. I myself went through that phase, but luckily beat that virus. As far as calibers goes, hard to beat a 6.5mm and people are finally realizing it.

Most of what's been listed are cartridges, the OP asked about caliber.

6.5mm has seen a lot of fresh interest over the last 5-10 years.
Now with even more aplomb

6.5s are sooooo 5 years ago. The 6mms are where it's at - they are seeing more play in competition, and it seems like around here (on the fire and my physical location) everybody is building 243 AIs, 6XCs, or for the uber-cool, the 6mm Stuver .
