Go to online license and tag purchases. You can enter your Idaho license no, SSN, or etc. Fill out the rest of the info and it will show if you have any controlled hunt tags you can purchase. It's not listed on the controlled hunts results page yet.

thanks for the info. We drew our elk tags in 48 but failed at antelope...again. I've only drawn twice on antelope in 40 years of trying. Antelope are the hardest tag there is to draw in Idaho.

Thanks for the info. Me and the wife got extra doe tags. I drew an either sex elk tag. Just about made the wife cry though, she didn't draw her late season cow tag yet again. She struck out 3 years in a row now.

Zip for me...

I'd say Bighorn, then Owyhee Mulie Bucks are the hardest tag.

Until maybe 8 or 10 years ago, CA bighorns were relatively easy to draw for. Owyhee County had something like 63 or 65 tags available. Then almost overnight, they dropped the tags numbers to where they are now. I think a disease thrashed the sheep population out there.

I grew up/worked most of my life there and it is over populated now during hunting season, thanks to the Treasure Valley.

Try Lost Lake on the 4th......

Brother you lucky suck! I missed on the deer, but got cow. The fun is over if we both connect.

I've heard that Idaho offers over the counter, Non-resident elk tags. Is there any truth to this. Haven't checked into and figured it too good to be true and purely rumor. I've been putting in for points in WY for a couple of years now and just figured that was the norm.

Brinky, I know a non-resident can buy an OTC elk tag for some units, but not all, as some are on a Controlled Hunt drawing. That drawing is closed. Go here and check out the regs, license fees, seasons, etc.

http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/licenses/fees/

I and my partener did not pull a Controlled elk tag so it will be General Season for us... as usual. wink

Good luck.

Yahoo - Bulls in Unit 49! - Antelope is an unlimited bow hunt. No deer, drew last year.

The results are now up for real so you can verify your back door if you like.

I've hunted elk in 49 many times with very good success. Congrats!
The last 2 years we put in for cow in 48 to get the best chance of drawing anything. In units like 49, the hardest part of the hunt is getting the tag.
For years we've hunted on John Peavey's place, the Flat Top Sheep Co. However, they're not on Access Yes this year. I last hunted it about 4 years ago and got a nice bull.

I drew an Owyhee Bighorn tag and the odds where pretty good when compared to other hunts, when I applied it was a 1:13 odds whereas the unit 45 deer was like 1:50. My hunting partner drew an Owyhee sheep tag for this season. The sheep numbers are down to heavy lion depredation - per the biologist for the area. Lion hunters don't like running their dogs there due to the high probability of injury.

No Idaho tags for me frown But don't feel bad because I have Wyoming deer and antelope plus a BUNCH of SD deer tags.
