Bits and pieces are coming in slowly but surely for my ever increasing rifle battery.
1. Remington 700 in 30-06 For a mid-weight do everything on North America rifle McMillan mountain rifle stock Williams bottom metal Soon to be cerakoted Shilen trigger Still have the factory tube, not sure if it shoots Zeiss 3*9*40 with z-600 reticle
2. Remington SS 700 in 270, mountain rifle, just ordered a McEdge. For a bomb proof sheep/lightweight rig Ordered a KS McEdge yesterday Shilen trigger Still have the factory tube, not sure if it shoots Fixed 6 leupold
3. Remington 700 in 7-08 for deer/lope/ ne'erdowells McMillan Hunter Shilen Duracoated Douglas tube Leupold 3x9x40 Proven sub moa shooter
I've got a Rem700 SA donor laying around, but I could go horse trade it for a LA beauty from the 60's. Just trade fodder currently.
All I can think of to add would be a mid-weight boom stick (375 H&H) or mid-heavy long range dedication rig (300WM or something freaky)
Ideas? Improvements?

I never could get into battery powered rifles like the etronix... I wouldn't be surprised if we see it again. The cost of electronics has fallen so much that it's probably cheaper to produce an electronic rifle over a mechanical one. Plus you get the near zero lock-time, ultra-light microswitch trigger, increased security so only the register shooter can fire it, and the ability of the government to remotely turn off your gun.

Actually the 3 listed are fairly redundant.

Actually the 3 listed are fairly redundant. Kind of what I was thinking, but given that I have seven 308's I can't say too much. Anyway, I'd think if I wasn't comfortable taking on something with a 7mm-08 I'd want a good bit more than what the others could provide.

There is some 'overlap' as I like to call it. That just means one can be a suitable back-up for another 30-06 is for heavy pills and bear/elk/moose 270 is featherweight beater in SS for wild mountain adventures/sheep/goat 7-08 is sort of in between the two mentioned above Guess the donor action can be used as trade fodder for a big-bore. I just use a k-22 for a deuce deuce

I have nothing against a 30-06, but if really need more "whomp" than my usual 243 to 308 spectrum stuff I'll fire up my old Sako 338 mag and get the 250 Partitions rockin' again.

What does "need" have to do with it ? I need a good rifle to hunt. I need another one similar to it as a backup if the main rifle goes down. I've never needed my backup, but I've hunted with others who needed one. I also "need" a lighter rifle to back pack hunt. It needs to be extra tough and reliable, etc. I "need" a little heavier one with an appropriate scope for those extra long shots. Then I "need/want" to play with the latest Scout Rifle made by Ruger. Might learn something useful from the adjustable stock, or the new variable scout scope by Leupold. I need a good .22 rimfire with iron sights for hunting squirrels. But I also "need" a very accurate one with a scope for long distance target shooting or plinking..... Eventually, I'll "need" a bigger gun safe.... Heck, I "need" more time to shoot and hunt more. E

Without going into details, I pretty well have everything covered for NA, including big bears and two-legged varmints.
Coyote Hunter - NRA Patriot Life, NRA Whittington Center Life, GOA, DAD - and I VOTE!
No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

Perhaps it's a bit paranoid but, especially considering the latest from barry's henchmen, if I had a battery, which I don't, I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it in cyberspace. I don't think it's anyone's business what kind nor type nor caliber of rifles I own. If I owned any, that is.
Aim for the exit hole.
