With that arsenal I'd sell the 270 and/or 7-08 and get a (min 1-in-9" twisted) .223 or 223AI and a (min 1-in-9.5" twist) .243 Win.

I currently have:

223 Rem
6-250
257 Rob
257 AI
30-30
30-06

In process:

Fast-twist 220 Swift
6.5x55
7x57

Just a thought on a nice pair to do it all. Well maybe not all day on prairie dogs but about anything else. Winchester Classic Featherweight 257 Bob and a Winchester Classic Sporter 338 Win Mag. For most of us that will take care of anything we hunt. Only if you go after the really big stuff in Africa might you need something bigger.

Perhaps it's a bit paranoid but, especially considering the latest from barry's henchmen, if I had a battery, which I don't, I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it in cyberspace. I don't think it's anyone's business what kind nor type nor caliber of rifles I own. If I owned any, that is.

I think your battery is entirely full-auto whistle

All I need is:

A decent bolt-action 22LR for small critters

A .224/.244 centerfire (most likely a 223, 22-250, or 243) for playing around and coyotes

Two bolt action hunting rifles (just in case) chambered in any standard popular cartridge from 270 to 338. Most likely a 270, 7mm RM, 30-06, 300 WM, or 338 WM. I'd rig one rifle with a longer barrel and scope topping out at 10x for open country and then one with less barrel and a lower powered scope for the timber. In a pinch, either will work for anything.

As of now, I have a 22, 223, 7mm-08, 7x57, 280, 30-06 and 300 Win Mag. Kind of redundant if you just look at calibers.

What else? No sense in pulling them all out, in that there are more than I need-some have overlap-but they keep me interested in fooling around. More and more a good one of these opens up opportunity that was previously off limits.

Newest addition: Waiting for bullets and have yet to mount a scope.

Do you have a roller on your mower? Looks patternish?

30-06 for anything I'm able to hunt even though I use a 7-08 and 6.5x55 more than anything.

308 and 223 cause ammos was once plentiful and cheap. Not much you can't get done with the 308 in the contiguous 48.

Got a new Tikka SS Syn 223 out in the garage trying to figure out how to get it in my man cave where it will be safe...

wink

If you get right down to it, what more does a man truly "need" luckily we don't have to go off of that! Thank GOD!!!!!
