I am considering another muzzleloader, for my son to use.
Any opinions on the Vortek?
Alternative options?
I need something fairly reasonably priced.
Thanks,

Im not very impressed with Traditions products compared to CVA.
CVA has a new SS Wolf and a new version of the Optima called the Optima V2. Both are SS, light weight and cheaper than the Traditions. I think CVA also offers a youth stock for the Wolf.

The Vortek LDR i had was sweet. The thinner barrel did heat up faster but thats not a real issue when you are out hunting. Excellent accuracy as well, especially with full bore conicals.

Thanks,
couple of years back I got my CVA wolf on sale for $99, it weighed less and out shot my T/C and my friends T/C's. I have been checking out Vortek's long barrel ultra lites, they claim it to be accurate out to 270 yards? if true thats more than I can get out of any of my muzzle loaders.

You might want to look at the T/C Impact. I shoot an Omega and have for over 10 years. The Impact has an Omega barrel on it...per T/C's customer service.
I'm planning on picking one of these up soon.

I don't have the Vortek, but I do have the Pursuit XLT which weighs less than 5.5 #s. It shoots as good as my Omega and is a lot easier to carry.
