As an aside, Rman has informed me my .223 Montanny has been released from the gun-doctor Arki-fied. So I am proud to say I am the newest member of the .223 AI family, no applaus needed.
Wait... What Montanny? No Montanny here! R.

I see that you removed them all, thinking that it would be cheap insurance. It wasn't. Did you know that Kimber stocks all of those parts? And, they were cheap! I know! Surprised the hell outta me!!! Anyhoo, they should be here next week! I'll let you know how she rolls with the 75 A-max. 3000fps should about do it. If I'm short, I have a couple of sweet stickers I can throw on there for an extry 150 fps or so. You're too busy with the boat anyway.
Thanks me later!!!
R.

I'm sure someone on here is better qualified than me to run some drop and drift numbers.
Here is chrono data from 2 recent builds, I just had finished.
Both are AI versions of the 243 and 25-06 and both have 24" barrels.
243 AI is getting 3185 with 105 Hornady AMAX 1-10 Lilja 25-06 AI is setting 3507 with Nosler 100 Ballistic tips 1-7.7 Bartlein.

I think that the ballistics of each have been well tread upon earlier in this thread and it was established that after 325 yards, the 1/4 bore pills loose steam quite a bit faster than the 6mm stuff in the similar weight bullets. For the 90-95% of us that never shoot further than 300 yards, its a none issue. But for the guys who make use of laser range finders and adjustable turrets, a long 6mm bullet has its advantages over a 6.35mm bullet.

'slave, More Mother/Child Reunion, last night. Though only Gophers...not the cool Texas or Michigan version of the Outdoors. 'Nother slice of the Theme, though the question is which came first?!!? There goes the neighborhood. Did The Do Nothing Gang finally run outta Imagination,or is it another Pretend Ignore?!!? Laffin'! SLM, Still no [bleep] light nor Blurtitude. Mebbe tonight. Film at 11:00. cwh, If I had a boat,I'm thinkin' I'd not want carpet either. Mojo', The trouble with references is...nobody gets 'em,which is a [bleep] shame. I don't mind stealing bread, from the mouths of decadence. WSM, I'm really on pins & needles, hoping for a Bear Hunt recounting or perhaps...a Treatise on your version of "rough country". Laffin'! As per always, use as much Imagination and Pretend as you deem requisite. Bless your heart. 'Hank, [bleep] man, hook a Cheechako up...I'm savin' pennies! Thanks in advance, for the wealth of knowledge. archie', I've only had Sammun from a can and thought it was very good. Surprised that freezing them, then canning them,so drastically helps the taste. I'll scratch AK offa The Bucket List,if they's that poor when fresh. Rman, I get cornfused...which stickers is the fastest? Is there anything faster than a Swifty cartoon or a Shefire Applebee's menu?!!? What do a Masters add?!? How 'bout Union Dues, how many extry fps there? What about pointy boots, barbed wire or a Golf Cart?!? [bleep] cryin' here,I'm laughing so hard! BEST Thread Evah. 'WASP, Makes it tough to swoon a long action, don't it?!? And it do put a '70 243Win 1-10" in hilarious context. Someone once said: "boolits matter more than headstamps" and the more I read, the more I think that just might could be a fair observation. 'Groove, Seems to me,that a .224" would near get to the 300yd line or so. Thoughts? (Addendum: for Crow') She had me at a disadvantage, given the windspeed and it's direction,so I had no moves...so she hustled the kids away. Poor bastards were strugglin',to keep her in sight. The 1Dx/800L melding woulda helped,as I was slingin' Old Reliable(1D3/100-400L). Be curious to see what shows itself tonight,as a Big White Gopher wouldn't hurt my feelin's.

I used to be entrusted with operating a couple of 5.56X45 chambered platforms for an uncle and they would predictably knock stuff over well beyond 300 yards. I am beginning to come around to the idea of testing one out on a real live deer. I am admittedly enthralled with the long action standards, but I have used the 30-30 with enough success to be open minded as to the actual usefulness of "under powered" cartridges. Maybe I'll pick up a Hawkeye and see if I can do some damage.

Nice gopher pics, Stick. PS I also have been known to worship at the hounds house of worship... PPS just remember this my friend when you look up in the sky, some can see the stars and still not see the light...
It ain't what you don't know that makes you an idiot...it's what you know for certain, that just ain't so...
Most people don't want to believe the truth~they want the truth to be what they believe.

'Groove, I have reliably seen good boolits,in good places...do good things. [bleep] near takes the fun outta it.(grin) Boolits be the thang which matters most, after placement. Just might .224" me a Deer, some day myself,if only to see what the fuss is all about. 30-'06 man, myself. WSM(Whines/Snivels Magnificently), Sweetie...you'll always be ahead of the curve,by simply [bleep] yourself, because you'll always get more poozy that way. Laffin'! Why is you afeared of regaling a Bear yarn and musin' "mountains" and the like?!!? Laffin'! You "hard chargers" are a [bleep] riot! It is very impressive, how little you "know",let alone "do"...though I groove on your "results". Laffin'! Purty slow here on The Milford last night, though a [bleep] Texan musta left another [bleep] gate open, because there was a few new Goats in the yard. Jeezus [bleep],no wonder you Day Dreaming Do Nothing [bleep] GOTTA use your Imaginations and practice your Pretend. Looking forward to the next excuse. Laffin'! 'slave, No White Gophers, but did spy some more run of the mill Gophers. Light finally cooperated a smidge, which didn't hurt my feelers. Though it certainly ain't no BWT to Applebee's. Laffin'! Mojo, Might wanna be careful, when craning a neck and searching upwards for that light.(grin) Schit happens. 'dawg', "This game that we animals play,is a winner." [img] http://imageshack.us/a/img13/7069/kk3o.jpg[/img] Now Shefire will again feel compelled to quantify, how that one time at Band Camp...she stuck a flute in her poozy. Laffin'! Swingin' gates open, hopping barbed wire, riding Golf Carts and wearin' pointy boots, sure as [bleep] ain't gonna get it did.(grin) Some folks, simply require the Real Thing. But them that don't,is a hoot!
