I seem to remember that if Savage replaced a barrel after the factory moved to Chicopee Falls, that those barrels were 24".
As to original 24" barrels, pretty sure they would have been a special order.

I have a 24" 22 hp barrel with the Chicopee Falls address and it shoots very well

Thanks guys.saw one on internet made in 1927; 24" barrel.Made me very suspect.Still don't know for sure.
