I think Nikons scopes are a good scope for the money. I did buy one of the Redfields and that is real nice scope too.

I too am a Kahles fan. I recently talked with a tech rep from Kahles and he indicated that the "Rimfire" was a marketing thing. That the 2-7 Rimfire was the same scope as the AH2-7x36.
That said I have one in TDS on my 22 and it is wonderful. I like the TDS reticle, in my opinion about the simplest and easy to use of them all. My problem with second focal plane scopes and ranging reticles, the scope has to be on max power for the reticle to be accurate. Actually, with a bunch of calculations one can adjust the TDS to a lesser power, but it's quite involved and defeats the purpose of quick, easy use. With a lesser powered scope, that's not as big a problem. With a higher powered scope, it can be a nuisance in some cases. I had a Swaro 6-18 with TDS on a 6.5-284. Hunting with a Harris bipod, it was hard to hold steady on a 325 yd. Pronghorn. If I dropped the power, the TDS wasn't accurate and I'd be guessing on hold over. So, I traded the TDS 6-18 for a Z5 3.5-18 with turret. I can adjust the range and power independently. I realize with .22 scopes, that's not as big an issue, just wanted to point out why I no longer have any ranging reticles and am a turret man. DF

I really like the Kahles 2-7 Rimfire also. It was the same scope as the AH 2-7x36 but was supposedly set to be parallax-free at 50 yd rather than 100 yd - at least, that was what was advertised.

That's what they told me when I tried to verify a recent 2-7 Kahles recently bought. They told me the only to know was to check the parallax. They didn't even know by the serial number.

My favorite is my Leupold rimfire 4x with the turkey plex reticle. Second runner up is my Bushnell 1.75 x 4 with the circle-X reticle. I had a Leupold 3x9 rimfire EFR. It went down the road. The adjustable objective didn't work out for me as it was never set at the range I needed for a quick shot squirrel hunting.

How would it be any different from the 4X Leupold to just set the 3x9 EFR on 50 yards and leave it alone? Was it more out of focus at different ranges than the 4X if you didn't continually adjust the parallax? I've used the Leupold VXII 4-12 AO for years hunting squirrels and I just set it to 50 yards and leave alone. It might be slightly out of focus on a 15 yard shot but not enough that it hindered a shot on a squirrel.

I have one of both of them; there is no difference externally between the Rimfire (50yd parallax) and Standard scopes. The only way that I know that I have a rimfire version is that I bought it new (it was marked/stickered on the box), as well as it has a 4A reticle. My standard one has a duplex reticle. Wonderful scopes!

Currently using a Falcon Menace 4-14x44 with a Mil turrets and a Mil reticle in the first focal plane. The scope comes with side focus, which my aging eyes really appreciate, and the reticle is illuminated, which makes low light shots much easier.
In many ways the scope is complete over kill on a rimfire, but I wanted something that approximated the S&B scope on my .308win.
Using .22 subs, I have used it to take rabbits out to 100m..

Tomothy_Murphy: I have several Weaver V-16's I use on my most accurate heavy barrel 22 Rifles. This 4 to 16 power variable scope handles all the situations and distances I need covered with my 22's. The adjustable objective works quite well and focuses quite close when needed. The adjustments are reliable and positive. I use both the fine crosshair with tiny dot reticles and the Du-Plex type reticles. Whenever I am bringing a new 22 rimfire (or a 17 rimfire for that matter!) online I always start looking for a deal on a used Weaver V-16! Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
