One just cost me a room full of carpet AND a new dresser. She's been in another room during the re-carpeting, and hasn't had a single problem. It seems like it becomes habit for them, and a change of scenery can sometimes make them forget about it. Naturally, you should probably have your vet rule out any health-related causes. I had a Siamese female who never made a mess in the house...everything was in the litterbox. Moved in with my wife (girlfriend at the time), who had five cats; all of a sudden, my cat started spraying, especially any place I frequented (office, chair, ect).
