I have a Gamo Bull Whisper Extreme. It is brand new and I have shot it a bunch. I CAN NOT sight the gun in. The groupings are terrible. What am I doing wrong? Is it the scope? The mounts? Or something else? This gun was way to expensive for this poor of performance. HELP!

First off, if it's a combo. Meaning you bought everything together as a package these things will happen. If you did buy it as a combo.
(manufacturers do this to make it look inviting so they can make the sale knowing that most buyers aren't experienced airgunners and won't know the difference. I made the same mistake years ago as a newbie)

If you want to get accuracy out of that thing, you're going to have to spend a little more, sorry to say.

First, a more reliable scope. Most scopes that come in combo's are robust enough to take springer recoil and a moving POI (Point Of Impact) will happen. After a while, or sooner, the scope will break.

Second, better mounts. Most of these mounts will slip on the dovetails, and the scope will slip in the rings also causing a moving POI.

Third, you have to try different pellets to see which one shoots the best through the barrel. The gun decides what it shoots the best, not you.

Look at these points, I'm pretty sure this is where your problem lies.

Can you give me a recommendation of what mounts and scope to buy as a replacement?

I don't know your budget, but the Bushnell Elites are spring gun rated. The Leupold EFR scopes are fantastic, but you're starting to climb up in price.

Another thing to consider is that quite a few of these guns need a substantial break in period, particularly break barrel with spring piston. My GAMO took approximately 300-350 shots for the groups to settle in. Out of the box, it had minute-of-elephant accuracy. I too thought something was wrong, but found out from another site of the long break in. Shoots beautifully now!

That's not a lot of shots for a break in. Normal break in for a springer is usually 6-1000 shots, and it still drops. To find out if it is broken in is to shoot it over a chronographer and check the fps after the first 500 shots.
After having my .22 R9 tuned after a broken spring and piston seal and breech seal changed, The gun was shooting in the 720 fps range. After the first 500 shots I ran it over the chrony again and it only dropped to the 712-714 fps range. Now after 2000 rounds the gun finally settled down and is at where it's suppose to be at in the 690's to low 700 fps range. The firing cycle will smooth out, but the fps will still drop until the spring finally sets. I bet your gun is still loosing power, it's just that you can't tell, unless you have a chronographer.

Most of my guns have taken over 1000 rounds to break in.
