Wondering if any of ya'll have used RL15 with the TTSX in a 243 win? I've seen loads of 38-38.5 gr of varget and also 41-45 gr of H4350. RL 15 is basically in the middle of those and the only one out of the three that I have. I've got some barnes 80gr and some 100gr partitions I wanna try out and kinda new to the whole trying a powder that aint listed thing.

Alliant shows a little data for RL15 in the 243

41.0 for 85 grain
43.0 for 75 grain
Both are listed as max. No starting loads shown

At least you can compare this to the other powder data and go from there

Never had much success with RL except in one of my brownings. 85 gr TSX 37.0 gr IMR 4350, my 8 yr. old grandson shot a nice 8 pt running down hill (120 yds. range finder) with this load. Entered rear qtr and lodged just inside the heart. That's penetration from a 243 !!! Wouldn't shoot a 243 unless it was loaded with a Barnes!!

any pet loads with the 19? Got some 100gr partitions and the 80 ttsx's figured i'd work up a load for both. Mainly be shooting hogs and maybe a doe or two with it.

I too found RL17 to be the ticket with the 80TTSX. 44.5 has worked extremely well in a few rifles. I'd say magic could be found anywhere between 43.5 and 45. 44.5 averages about 3315fps for me...

I use 45gr of RL-19 with either Barnes 80gr TTSX @ 3547fps or with a Sierra 85gr HPBT @ 3497fps with the 80gr TTSX shooting like 1/4" higher at 100 yards, also use the same powder with the same weight grs in my 25-06 with the Barnes 100gr TTSX @ 3612 and the Sierra 90gr HPBT @ 3587fps, with the 25-06 POI from one bullet to another is 1/2" high and 1/4" to the left from going from the Sierra to the Barnes

How long is the barrel? I'd think it would take 48ish grains to get there in a standard barrel..

This...

44.5 to 45.0 grains gives me 3400+ in a 22 1/2" tube...
